From the duo behind the massively successful and award-winning podcast Stuff You Should Know comes an unexpected look at things you thought you knew. Josh Clark and Chuck Bryant started the podcast Stuff You Should Know back in 2008 because they were curious - curious about the world around them, curious about what they might have missed in their formal educations, and curious to dig deeper on stuff they thought they understood.

Breaks My 20-minute Rule
Revisado: 10-24-24
As with movies, if a book doesn't pull me in in the first 20 minutes, I don't waste more of my time on it. This book if VERY boring. Some people might actually enjoy the topics of discussion. I'm not one of them. I really couldn't care less about how tequila is made; why people should stay in the same place if they're lost, or the Beatles. What put me over the edge, though, was the insinuation that the image of Jesus Christ on the Shroud of Turin is a figment of people's imagination. Do some research guys. There is tons of evidence to confirm the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin. I will be requesting a refund on this one.

What an Amazing Journey!
Revisado: 05-09-23
As a sewist and someone from a very large, less-than-wealthy family, I was able to really relate to much of Jenny's story; not to mention that she's only a couple of years older than I am. And where some listeners commented that they didn't care for the spirituality intertwined in the story, I very much appreciated it. I have been aware of her company for many years but never realized how she grew it from the humblest of beginnings. I also didn't realize how huge the company is. One-hundred and fifteen employees for a small business is significant. She is an inspiration to anyone who thinks they can't do it. Put your mind to it, do your part, and God will take care of the rest. Very enjoyable listen. She sounds like she was a really fun mom. My mom was like that too.

He swore to take a bullet for the President and left it all behind to take a bullet for the American people. Why would a successful, twelve-year Secret Service agent resign his position in the prime of his career to run for political office against all the odds? New York Times bestseller, Life Inside the Bubble is an intimate look at life inside the presidential "bubble," a haze of staffers, consultants, cronies, acolytes, bureaucrats and lobbyists that creates the "alternate reality" in which monumental policy decisions are made.

A Better Understanding of What the SS About
Revisado: 05-05-23
Many years ago, I was in Arlington, VA, for a professional conference. Apparently, some "big deal" was staying at the hotel the conference was being held at. The SS was there, and something that struck me right off the bat was how absolutely arrogant the agents were. Bongino confirmed what, as quite a young woman, I picked up on. I have listened to this book almost 10 years after it was published, and much of what Dan warned about has come to fruition or only gotten worse. It's a decent read.

Sobering Truth
Revisado: 09-08-21
Can't give it 5 stars because I wasn't satisfied that the title of the book was adequately addressed. That being said, the truths contained within are sobering, and I might add frightening at the same time. We were chosen to live in these times, and must keep our faith in the Lord.

Glaring Omission
Revisado: 09-02-21
I like Jesse a lot, and have liked him since he came on the scene with Bill O'Reilly. He tends to be truthful and, for the most part, unafraid to speak his mind. That being said, I wonder why he failed to address the obvious fraud in the 2020 Election. For that reason, I couldn't give his book 5 stars. Unlike other reviewers, it didn't matter at all to me that Jesse didn't narrate the book.

Historia
O’Reilly and co-author Martin Dugard trace the brutal history of 20th-century organized crime in the United States, and expertly plumb the history of this nation’s most notorious serial robbers, conmen, murderers, and especially, mob family bosses. Covering the period from the 1930s to the 1980s, O’Reilly and Dugard trace the prohibition-busting bank robbers of the Depression Era, such as John Dillinger, Bonnie and Clyde, Pretty Boy Floyd, and Baby-Face Nelson.

Things You Never Knew
Revisado: 08-02-21
Any of O'Reilly's "Killing" books I've listened to have been well-researched and a good, enjoyable listen. Specifically to this one: Unless you're one who knows Mob history well, you will find things in this fine piece of work that you never knew. For me, the biggest takeaway is: Regardless of how evil the Mob may have been, the Corruptocrats dominating the United States, right now, make them look like child's play.

“I now pronounce you husband and wife.” There are few phrases as sobering, with the possible exceptions of “We have lift-off” and “This country is at war.” Yet, as they have done for centuries, millions of courageous men and women continue to walk down the aisle every year, without so much as a job description. Now, in her most autobiographical book, Erma Bombeck puts it all in loving and laughing perspective, as she looks back on her own forty-three-year-but-who’s-counting marriage.

Your doctor is not a god.
Revisado: 02-03-21
Too many people put way too much trust in what their doctor tells them. Most people don't realize that very few doctors really know a darned thing about good nutrition, and most of them are very influenced by Big Pharma. For your own health and welfare, do your OWN research. For the most part, Ken Berry didn't teach me anything I didn't already know about the lies doctors tell and repeat over and over, again. Why? Because I do my own research and determine what makes sense and what doesn't. I now follow Ken Barry regularly because what he sells aligns with what I know to be true. I would recommend this book for anyone who thinks of their doctor as some kind of god. Your doctor is not a god. In many cases, your doctor isn't really even that smart. That being said, there are some really good doctors out there, and my disparaging remarks don't apply to that subset. Just know that there is always a push to keep the truth hidden. Follow the money, and you'll get your answer for why that is.

All Confirmed by the 2020 Election
Revisado: 02-03-21
If you are a good, moral, and ethical person, you are likely to find the information in this book maddening. I started listening to this a couple of months before the 2020 election. I believed what was being disclosed, yet believed that somehow, "they" wouldn't get away with it. They got away with it. If you think there is no sense in reading this book because the election is over, think again. It basically provides a blueprint for how Big Tech plans to continue to control us. I, in fact, would go so far as to say Big Tech IS part of the Deep State.
This book is very well written, and obviously tons and tons of research went into it.

When Eddie was 12 years old, all he wanted for Christmas was a bike. Although his life had gotten harder - and money tighter - since his father died and the family bakery closed...Eddie dreamed that somehow his mother would find a way to have his dream bike gleaming beside their modest Christmas tree that magical morning. What he got from her instead was a sweater. "A stupid, handmade, ugly sweater" that young Eddie left in a crumpled ball in the corner of his room.

A Very Enjoyable Story Perfectly Narrated
Revisado: 02-03-21
Who can tell your story better than you? Exactly. And for this reason, nobody could have narrated this story better than the author himself. I imagine anyone who reads this book will find a shade of themselves in it. The story is so enjoyable yet comes with such a valuable lesson. I am, now, inclined to read another one of Glenn's fiction titles. (I read too much non-fiction, so that would probably do me good.)
