Historia
A United Nations relief team in a small village in the Congo makes an alarming discovery. An unknown force is leveling the evolutionary playing field. Men, women, and children have been reduced to a dull, catatonic state. The environment surrounding them—plants and animals—has grown more cunning and predatory, evolving at an exponential pace. The insidious phenomenon is spreading from a cursed site in the jungle — known to locals as the Kingdom of Bones —and sweeping across Africa, threatening the rest of the world.

Too much unfamiliar material
Revisado: 07-05-22
Too much unfamiliar material one is expected To be able to create images for the Congo for the deep African jungle It's difficult to keep track of all the unfamiliar characters you don't know who's important and who's not
You're also expected to be able to keep in mind the complex learning needed to understand viruses
The bad guys island compound is about the only image that comes easily

Historia
It is 997 CE, the end of the Dark Ages. England is facing attacks from the Welsh in the west and the Vikings in the east. Those in power bend justice according to their will, regardless of ordinary people and often in conflict with the king. Without a clear rule of law, chaos reigns. In these turbulent times, three characters find their lives intertwined.

Historia
Tender Branson, the last surviving member of the so-called Creedish Death Cult, is dictating his life story into the flight recorder of Flight 2039, cruising on autopilot at 39,000 feet somewhere over the Pacific Ocean. He is all alone in the airplane, which will crash shortly into the vast Australian outback. But before it does, he will unfold the tale of his journey from an obedient Creedish child and humble domestic servant to an ultra-buffed, steroid-and-collagen-packed media messiah.

Historia
Alan Moore channels both the ecstatic visions of William Blake and the theoretical physics of Albert Einstein through the hardscrabble streets and alleys of his hometown of Northampton, UK. In the half a square mile of decay and demolition that was England's Saxon capital, eternity is loitering between the firetrap housing projects. Embedded in the grubby amber of the district's narrative, among its saints, kings, prostitutes, and derelicts, a different kind of human time is happening.

Endless words strung together
Revisado: 07-02-17
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
No one
What was most disappointing about Alan Moore’s story?
After 90 minutes of listening I still had no idea what it is about.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Jerusalem?
All
Any additional comments?
This book is a bunch of descriptive words in endless sentences that mean nothing. This author seems to think that by naming endless places on unknown streets that you will have some idea of the geography of the town, not so!

Historia
History happens all around you. And, occasionally, to you. I could have been a bomb-disposal expert, or a volunteer for the Mars mission, or a firefighter, something safe and sensible. But, no, I had to be an historian. It began well. A successful assignment to 17th century Cambridge to meet Isaac Newton, and another to witness the historic events at The Gates of Grief. So far so good.

Could not follow
Revisado: 10-16-15
What disappointed you about A Second Chance?
Taylor's jumping all over between past and present and different parallel time lines without any reason (did not have to be logical or possible) left me lost and very disappointing because I enjoyed books 1&2 and looked forward to the whole series.
Please someone tell me she gets back on tract so I can read the rest.
Has A Second Chance turned you off from other books in this genre?
Probably
What about Zara Ramm’s performance did you like?
Everything she is Max.

Historia
The funeral of Charles Henry Topping on Manhattan’s Upper East Side would have been a minor affair (his two-hundred-word obit in The New York Times notwithstanding) but for the presence of one particular mourner: the notoriously reclusive author A. N. Dyer, whose novel Ampersand stands as a classic of American teenage angst. But as Andrew Newbold Dyer delivers the eulogy for his oldest friend, he suffers a breakdown over the life he’s led and the people he’s hurt and the novel that will forever endure as his legacy.
