Excellent murder mystery

Starts out as a thriller with Wall Street big shots in the cross hairs. Protagonist Pete Greene seems to have lost his soul and his initiative after getting fired from his job on The Street. He sees a suspicious death of a wealthy local as his life preserver.
So far so good. Then the book seems to spend way too much time on his feeling sorry for himself and way too little on any kind of cool gum shoe ingenuity . Set in a Montauk-like surf circle even the rush of catching waves or the oceans therapeutic magic never come to life. Once he is on the hunt for the killer almost every move he made I found myself thinking, “ That seems like it’s going to end badly. Why would you do that?” By the time the baffling end came to pass I felt I knew even less about the man and where he was going than I did when I started.
Just more bad thoughts and
misery rattling around in his head.
The whole journey left me as depressed as he was.
So I went surfing and put the whole thing behind me.

Bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla.
Kinda stunned. Have listened to or read 8 or 9 Weber books and can’t get enough. Literally just ordered another on Audible. This? Hmm. I have a cool MP3 that lets me listen to books while I swim. Didn’t make it past Chapter 3. Started to nod after lap 40 and I still had a 80 to go.
Nuff said.

I detested Watchers.
After 3 hours my head is full of awful negative thoughts and people I wouldn’t spend 5 minutes with.

Having Trouble Sleeping

Can’t remember a book where the text and reading of the text would cause me to pause every other page or two to look up a reference that I assume I was supposed to know. This is not a book for a casual reader. PHD’s in theology anyone. Gave up after 7 chapters.the drone of the reader sent my mind wandering within minutes. The only thing I took away was, (very basically) , Thomas made science and reasoning part of the Catholic approach to religion. SINCE WHEN??

Kinda disappointing. The compilation is only a little over an hour. The stories, while told by Kuralt the master, are incredibly short. Much shorter than I remember. Most are only a few minutes long.
Why does title Read Chapter 1? There is only one chapter! It was over before I knew what was coming.
