Historia
Grief Is for People is a deeply moving and surprisingly suspenseful portrait of friendship, and a book about loss packed with verve for life. Sloane Crosley is one of our most renowned observers of contemporary behavior, and now the pathos that has been ever present in her trademark wit is on full display. After the pain and confusion of losing her closest friend to suicide, Crosley looks for answers in friends, philosophy, and art, hoping for a framework more useful than the unavoidable stages of grief.

Lovely Presentation of a Tough Topic
Revisado: 06-24-24
I loved listening to this book. Suicide is a tough topic to discuss, but the author does a great job of paying tribute to her friend.

Historia
Kate is a pop culture commentator and host of the popular millennial-focused podcast Be There in Five. Part-funny, part-serious, Kate navigates the complicated nature of celebrating and criticizing the culture that shaped her as a woman, while arguing that great depths can come from surface-level interests. With her trademark style and vulnerability, One in a Millennial is sharp, hilarious, and heartwarming all at once. She tackles AOL Instant Messenger, purity culture, American Girl Dolls, going out tops, Spice Girl feminism, her feelings about millennial motherhood, and more.

Don’t need to be a millennial to love it!
Revisado: 02-08-24
I really enjoyed this book. Although I am too old to be a millennial, I found the author’s commentary very relevant and relatable. Additionally, I loved her sense of humor and writing style.

Beautiful Story
Revisado: 10-25-23
I was drawn in by the comedic opening and then touched by this father’s story of loss and grief. Very relatable to many of us who lost loved ones too soon. Definitely worth 1.5 hours of your time.

Well Written but Indulgent
Revisado: 02-16-23
While I love a well-written biography, I admit to feeling a bit frustrated that the daughter doesn’t acknowledge how privileged a life she led. It’s tough to feel sorry for someone who gets to go to Yale or own multiple vacation properties! It’s a bit much. However, I concede it’s well written and interesting nonetheless.

Interesting But Redundant
Revisado: 11-11-22
I really enjoyed hearing his backstory. The show Friends was an integral part of my college years. However, the focus of this book is addiction and the search for recovery. Interesting but a bit exhausting to listen to several hours of someone describing their attempt to get clean and sober. Overall, I enjoyed it because I enjoyed Friends and the stories he shared about the show.

So repetitive
Revisado: 01-01-22
Agree with other reviewers regarding the repetitive dialog. This would have been a great short story. Loved it at first, but grew tired of the musings of the lead character. Perhaps I should have read (as opposed to listened to) this one.

Revisado: 06-30-21
It was interesting to hear what happened from the children’s’ point of view. Very sad how they were isolated from their father. The commentary on elder abuse hit close to home. Many of us have fought for quality care for our ill parents.
