Historia
Born to a Magical Fantasy Princess and a nine-to-five Supervillain in the most superhero riddled city in the world, Perry's never felt...adequate. He's got no talent for magic, and not a scrap of superpowers to his name. When The System boots and unlocks his powers, it forces him to follow in his father's footsteps, but he'd rather take after his mother... Maybe there's a way he can do both...

Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

it's free with audible and, 5 hours from the end, I do want to know how it ends. That's about as positive as I can get. If you have nothing else to do and don't want to spend a credit or money there are worse uses of time.

Historia
The sun is bloated, diseased, dying perhaps. Beneath its baneful light, Shadrapar, last of all cities, harbours fewer than 100,000 human souls. Built on the ruins of countless civilisations, Shadrapar is a museum, a midden, an asylum, a prison on a world that is ever more alien to humanity. Bearing witness to the desperate struggle for existence between life old and new is Stefan Advani: rebel, outlaw, prisoner, survivor.

I liked it
Revisado: 07-25-23
It seemed a little long in parts, but overall it was a beautiful story about a very different and similar world. I loved it and would recommend it to anyone with attention span and patience. Significantly different than his Children of X books, but very good nonetheless. Narration was solid.

It was a day like any other when suddenly the world changed. The universe reached a threshold humanity didn’t even know existed, and it was time to finally be integrated into the vast multiverse. A place where power is the only thing anyone can truly rely on.

Bloated with Trash
Revisado: 07-11-23
This book is inflated with trash content. It should be maaaybe 10 hours, but the author fills entire chapters with repetitive descriptions, statements, and qualifiers. Aggressive repetition of stats/skills/titles and pointless character thoughts on his status. I would say the MC is stupid, but I have a feeling that it's just the author. Also, he gives advice to a "god" as a sub-level 10 character. Pretty stupid.
All that being said, I did listen to almost the whole thing. The story arc is engaging till near the end. That's probably why it's so frustrating that it's so filled with pointless reflection and descriptions. The book could easily progress to the end of the tutorial, but does not as a result of the filler.
Miscellaneous comments:
- Should not be compared to Defiance of the fall
- Anti social character isn't a negative overall
- Every detail of almost every fight the character has up till level ~30 is given.
- No real driver to the plot after a climax to the story that comes well before the end.
- Without the multiple perspectives this book has no point

Historia
It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

better than the worst, but ...
Revisado: 05-11-23
low bar. the main character is built up to be a genius who knows better than all others. maybe I would have liked it in my early 20s. Now, it makes me want to disagree with opinions I technically also hold just to be at odds with the mc. pretty cringey. also, the initial conflict is solved in a pretty overwhelmingly stupid way.
the first few chapters are trash to the point that I almost gave up, but it does get better. it's a decent world and system that's put together, but the villains aren't compelling and ~10 hours in I don't see the point in getting more of the books or even listening further, although I will finish the book since I bought it.

Like most kobolds, Yynnc has learned his lot in life. He'll find peace where he can while being very much aware of how fragile his existence can be in a world filled with creatures and beings more powerful than he. He's happy enough to embrace the life of a fisherman bringing food in for his warren, and live in peace as long as he can.

the book has a huge amount of content for it's length. definitely could have been split into two books if the author was following the usual apparent guidelines for audiobooks. not that many stat readings compared to others, very doable.

Historia
The peace of the Sect has been broken. Incursions come from the nomadic tribes of the southern mountains and from deep underground. Against these foes of the Empire—both old and new—Ling Qi and her allies will be set to test themselves. It is said that conflict is the great whetstone of talent, but war may devour the genius and the common talent alike without differentiation. What is to be gained and what is to be lost as the fires grow?

Historia
In the 25th century, humans have conquered space. The advent of faster-than-light travel has opened up hundreds of habitable planets for colonization, and humans have exploited the virtually limitless space and resources for hundreds of years with impunity. So complacent have they become with the overabundance that armed conflict is a thing of the past, and their machines of war are obsolete and decrepit. What would happen if they were suddenly threatened by a terrifying new enemy?

“It happened fast. Thirty-two minutes for one world to die, another to be born". An epic and gripping tale of catastrophe and survival, The Passage is the story of Amy - abandoned by her mother at the age of six, pursued, and then imprisoned by the shadowy figures behind a government experiment of apocalyptic proportions. But Special Agent Brad Wolgast, the lawman sent to track her down, is disarmed by the curiously quiet girl and risks everything to save her. As the experiment goes nightmarishly wrong, Wolgast secures her escape - but he can’t stop society’s collapse.

I should have known better
Revisado: 10-12-22
Magical savior girl in mysterious world. meh. I should have known better given the description, but I was hopeful given all the positive reviews. The writing is fine, but the content is stupid. There's a whole lot of unexplained behavior that has an unstated religious source. Would be better if it just effectively said it was God. instead it's just frequently vaguely magically stupid.

Not really for adults
Revisado: 07-03-22
Very much a young adult fantasy novel, unfortunately. I wish I had read it back then, probably would have loved it. Not a bad book, just a fantasy with immature characters and a very innocent romance that's pretty eye roll inducing. Action was meh.
