Historia
Each year an estimated 1.5 million children - one out of every six - are diagnosed with autism, Asperger's syndrome, ADHD, dyslexia, and obsessive compulsive disorder. Dr. Robert Melillo brings a fundamentally new understanding to the cause of these conditions with his revolutionary Brain Balance Program™. It has achieved real, fully documented results that have dramatically improved the quality of life for children and their families in every aspect: behavioral, emotional, academic, and social.

Unscientific + makes wild generalizations
Revisado: 09-19-24
I was referred to read this book by my Functional Neurologist, and to be fair…maybe he didn’t know what this book claims. You should know that the author claims that he can cure autism (even nonverbal autism) and that’s it’s just a brain balance problem. It’s like those “Doctors” who sell their supplements all over social media…in the same way, this book wants you to spend 20k (out of pocket, because insurance companies won’t cover this treatment because the scientific data on this is sparse and other leading physicians in the field don’t recommend it) on sending your kid through the program. I am a evidence based clinician myself- so I DO see the physical and somatic benefits of functional neurology and don’t discredit that there could be certain components that might support all of our bodies, but to claim you can cure autism and that it’s not a genetic diagnosis is cruel to those who are autistic or raising autistic children. The first few chapters mention the increase in autism being a plague; a disease we need to fix. It turned my stomach and made me cry as a mother of autistic children. WOW. Just wow. I had to stop at chapter 5 for my own need to protect my peace.

Historia
In these poems, the joys and struggles of the everyday are played against the grinding politics of being human. Beginning in a hotel room in the dark of a distant city, we travel through history and follow the memory of the Trail of Tears from the bend in the Tallapoosa River to a place near the Arkansas River. Stomp dance songs, blues, and jazz ballads echo throughout. Lost ancestors are recalled. Resilient songs are born, even as they grieve the loss of their country. Joy Harjo is at the top of her form in Conflict Resolution for Holy Beings.

Holy poetry
Revisado: 03-29-22
Holy poetry that is a gift extended. I’m speechless. I am undone. Her voice is like listening to moving water. Completely spellbound.

Historia
How did Fidel Castro fool the CIA for a generation? Why did Neville Chamberlain think he could trust Adolf Hitler? Why are campus sexual assaults on the rise? Do television sitcoms teach us something about the way we relate to each other that isn't true? While tackling these questions, Malcolm Gladwell was not solely writing a book for the page. He was also producing for the ear. In the audiobook version of Talking to Strangers, you’ll hear the voices of people he interviewed - scientists, criminologists, military psychologists.
