Sweet Venom

This book is one of my absolute favorites. I didn’t want to read it initially, due to the clear hurt that would come from it. But oh it hurts so good. Parker S. Huntington is and always will be my favorite author and she knows how to shatter you only to stitch you back together with love, jokes, lots of cursing, and tears. I love Jacob Morgan as Kellan. I love Sebastian York, especially after he was my beloved Nash Prescott. And Ava Erickson absolutely carried us thru.

Meg Sylvan absolutely slayed this. I know everyone is always excited for the male narrators for reasons. But. Meg, you brought Alexis to life in an absolutely perfect way. The absurdity that is Alexis’ personality is one of my favorite things ever and you 100% delivered and more.

The dialogue is so elementary and cringey and not good.
The whole thing also doesn’t make sense. Minor spoiler. Due to confusion he threatens to k!11 her and then the next time she sees him she’s more mad he broke in and stole her v!be?? Huuuuuh??? Also Harper is a terrible best friend for seeing that and not immediately committing her.
I can't tell if I don't like the narrators or just the book.
I am so sorry but I had to stop.

Beyond obsessed

I am obsessed with this book. Cal is the weirdest and best and funniest character. Row is the best thing since Nash Prescott. I was nervous to start this book because the best friend fight gives me anxiety. But. Even with the stress, this book quickly became a new absolute favorite. Which only two other books hold the title for. I read that this was the first book LJ had been able to write outside of her contracts and, as an LJ Shen fan, I can tell. Not in a bad way, like I said, big fan. But these characters are so easy to love and so well done and rounded and built into real people. I’m in love with this book and these characters.

Lila Winters is phenomenal and so funny and Teddy Hamilton is, as always, perfection.

With all this money?

I’m just saying, with all the money SJM and her publishers make they can only afford one narrator? And it’s the same narrator from TOG? Which btw didn’t come out until 2021? I guess there’s something to be said for narrator loyalty (?) but. The narration is fine. It’s someone reading a book to me. Its fine. It’s just not what we should expect and deserve from such a huge author and a huge publisher. Instead we have to wait for the dramatized version? To pay for two or four parts? Greedy. Not giving your readers what they want and frankly deserve. Smaller authors are giving people what we should have and SJM is just coasting.

I already loved this book and the audiobook is absolutely chef's kiss. Cassandra King absolutely crushed it, Crypt's voice is to die for, I love that we got a full cast and duet style. Can't wait for more
