Historia
Was What's My Line TV star, media icon, and crack investigative reporter and journalist Dorothy Kilgallen murdered for writing a tell-all book about the JFK assassination? If so, is the main suspect in her death still at large? These questions and more are answered in former CNN, ESPN, and USA Today legal analyst Mark Shaw's 25th book, The Reporter Who Knew Too Much.

Meh.
Revisado: 03-04-22
The writer is convinced that the reporter was murdered because she knew too much about the JFK assassination. I'm not. He suggests that someone poisoned her and pretty much points a finger at the guy he thinks did it. I don't buy it. But, everyone has their opinion, and that's what this book is. An opinion. The narrator is fine but every male character sounds and talks like Joe Friday from Dragnet, and there are a lot of male characters.

Historia
Miss Lonelyhearts is an unnamed male newspaper columnist writing an advice column, which is viewed by the newspaper as a joke. As "Miss Lonelyhearts" reads letters from desperate New Yorkers, he feels terribly burdened and falls into a cycle of deep depression, accompanied by heavy drinking and occasional barfights. The novel is essentially a black comedy and is characterized by an extremely dark but clever sense of humor and irony.

A classic. I read it as a young man and loved it then. After all these years I still am in awe by the careful selection of words and the power of them.

I know this is not one of King's favorite but I really liked it. Wasn't crazy about the music and sound effects. But that's limited. Blair Brown does a fine job narrating as does King.

Historia
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

Historia
Freddy Otash was the man in the know and the man to know in '50s LA. He was a rogue cop, a sleazoid private eye, a shakedown artist, a pimp - and, most notably, the head strong-arm goon for Confidential magazine. Confidential presaged the idiot internet - and delivered the dirt, the dish, the insidious ink, and the scurrilous skank.

Unbearably bad.
Revisado: 07-05-21
I get it. The main character wrote for a Hollywood gossip rag. So he tells his story like one long headline. Drunk deadbeats bash k-y cowboy perv party. Every two words start with the same letter. For the Whole book! It's laughable until it isn't. Cudos to the narrator who does his best belting out of the worlds worst tongue twister.

Historia
"I believe there is another man inside every man, a stranger...." writes Wilfred Leland James in the early pages of the riveting confession that makes up "1922", the first in this pitch-black quartet of mesmerizing tales from Stephen King. For James, that stranger is awakened when his wife, Arlette, proposes selling off the family homestead and moving to Omaha, setting in motion a gruesome train of murder and madness.

Great stories, but...
Revisado: 07-04-21
There's nothing worse than having a good book read by an awful narrator. The male reader does a great job but the female reader blows it. Especially on the last story where she chooses to read the story like a ditsy, 1950s sitcom housewife. So annoying and disappointing. It didn't ruin the book for me, it just emphasized how great the telling of it could have been had she made a different choice.

Historia
A society wedding at Ely Cathedral in Cambridgeshire becomes a crime scene when a man is murdered. After another body is found, the baffled local constabulary turns to Scotland Yard. Though the second crime had a witness, her description of the killer is so strange it's unbelievable. Despite his experience, Inspector Ian Rutledge has few answers of his own. The victims are so different that there is no rhyme or reason to their deaths. Nothing logically seems to connect them - except the killer. As the investigation widens, a clear suspect emerges. But for Rutledge, the facts still don't add up, leaving him to question his own judgment.

Motor car
Revisado: 06-11-21
If you like the words "motor car" you'll love this book. It's repeated over and over again. It's mentioned a few times in the beginning but by the end its said in almost every paragraph. If you take a drink every time the narrator says motor car you'll be dead of Alcoholism but the of the book.
How was the story? Who knows? I couldn't concentrate on anything else.
