Similar story to Bringing Down the House by Ben Mezrich, but with lower highs and sadder lows. Better to read that book

Some pretty great gambling stories in here. I was drawn in by the headline story, which was timely given the recent story about the poker pros that bet $100k over staying in an isolation room for 30 days. The story about the Donald Trump poker tourney is prescient! I appreciated the historical discussion of the WSOP and the stories about Johnny Moss. Learned a lot.

Connecting betting theory to investing, a gripping read of how to use what is now called "analytics" to gambling, and ultimately to the stock market

I'd read other "inside" stories of Nike, but none were better at capturing the start than this one, from the guy at the center of it all. I'd heard the "his business plan for Nike got him a C in business school" story, but really appreciated hearing the context for that. loved the stories on the early days, especially how many times the company almost went under. it's easy to look at big companies like Nike and think success was foreordained. This is a great reminder of all the critical junctures where different decisions could have led to a drastically different outcome. Compellingly read by a stellar voiceover in the first person, as if Knight himself is talking to you.

I loved the idea of this book, offering anecdotes on how to connect with your targets. The stories were compelling, but the examples feel quite dated, such as the reading/spelling of various web sites where you can find target data (put that in the book notes). Also seemed like many of the anecdotes boiled down to "send them a customized cartoon", which isn't totally applicable to a non-media based sales process.

The definitive history of the creation of the most important product of the 21st century. takes you through the internal challenges and politics of creating a breakthrough product (the debate about using the iPod form factor/UI alone makes this book worthwhile). if you're in product marketing in a midsized company or just curious about how hard it is to create truly groundbreaking products, you'll be able to relate to this story.

This book gives a very unique perspective on the leading technology companies,by pushing past their positive veneer to look at their rapacious approach to competition, suggesting that legal remedies may be necessary to address their near monopoly on the digital market place. Galloway's writing is fresh and witty, so while he shares potentially dense economic and data driven insights, it's done in an engaging and memorable style to make it entertaining.

great mindset book. somewhat of a practical introduction to stoicism, which this author has also written about extensively. structure borrows from "48 laws of power", leveraging historical anecdotes well to connect these lessons to modern times. will re-listen multiple times
