Historia
Something is wrong. We all know it. American life expectancy is declining for a third straight year. Birth rates are dropping. Nearly half of us think the other political party isn’t just wrong; they’re evil. We’re the richest country in history, but we’ve never been more pessimistic. What’s causing the despair? In Them, bestselling author and U.S. senator Ben Sasse argues that, contrary to conventional wisdom, our crisis isn’t really about politics. It’s that we’re so lonely we can’t see straight—and it bubbles out as anger. Local communities are collapsing.

Yet another great book of wisdom for my generation and the generations behind mine. Also a great audio performance from the author.

Phenomenally adapted and expertly delivered by the voice cast. Another tale I'm mad at myself for taking this long to read/listen to.

Most Okayest Prepper Tale

I want to love this book so much but it offers little more intrigue than my daily 30 minute commute. I love the preparedness mindset but this book read like a documentary, not a novel.

Historia
Decades before the American Revolution, Benjamin Franklin lamented that English settlers were constantly fleeing over to the Indians - but Indians almost never did the same. Tribal society has been exerting an almost gravitational pull on Westerners for hundreds of years, and the reason lies deep in our evolutionary past as a communal species. The most recent example of that attraction is combat veterans who come home to find themselves missing the incredibly intimate bonds of platoon life.

Stunning
Revisado: 01-09-19
I needed to hear the words of this book like I need air in my lungs. I've struggled with my place in life since highschool. And ever since then, I've had a constant urge to prove myself as a man. I've needed to prove myself as a capable and necessary member to society. I thought I needed combat. I thought I needed war. I think, I just need a proper Tribe. I need a place to belong and a place where I can provide belonging. Every American needs to be force fed this book in the hope that it will awaken a sense of true community within our country. This book is a step in the right direction, towards healing the rift in America. Sebastian Junger, I need to give you a firm handshake and a thank you.
