Easy and enjoyable Chick Lit
Revisado: 02-07-13
As per the summary this book is about 4 writer friends. 1 of the friends has hit hard times and owes 1 more book to her publishing house before they drop her for good. For several reasons she has trouble writing the book so her 3 friends join forces with her to help her write it. This story is told from the POV of all 4 characters which I always like. Each woman has her own set of life issues she is dealing with which all come to a head when the book they write becomes a bestseller.
I found this book thoroughly entertaining, though it is pretty predictable chick lit. But, it's aways motivating to see women find their own inner strength and sense of self and this book does not disappoint in that aspect.

which is awesome!! I enjoy guessing the ends of suspenseful books and being right but I think I enjoy being wrong more! This book had me pretty much from the start. I listened to it in 2 days so it obviously had something. I did not like the narrator at first but he grows on you, although even after finishing the book I don't feel like his voice matched the character of Andy Barber (total personal opinion, he by no means takes anything away from the book). This story moved fast and kept my mind turning. It is a different spin on court type dramas, and I enjoyed the court scenes although I felt some points became repetitive at times (which i'm sure is what happens in real court cases!)
Its hard to say much more without a spoiler alert so I will just say more than credit worthy and leave it at that.

Revisado: 01-08-13
So all I have to say is got within 1-1/2 hours of finishing this book and stopped. I really didn't care how it ended because I feel like I spent the whole book waiting for it to start. It has some interesting aspects about marriage, infidelity, loss of a child etc however I didn't feel like I was getting any new insights from these characters experiences. I listen to a lot of books where these sorts of life-topics come up and I listen to them because I feel they can give me insight into other points of view of life problems. As I said above this one did not offer me anything new and so for me not worth the credit.

Historia
> The Chaperone is a captivating novel about the woman who chaperoned an irreverent Louise Brooks to New York City in 1922, and the summer that would change them both. Only a few years before becoming a famous actress and an icon for her generation, a 15-year-old Louise Brooks leaves Wichita to make it big in New York. Much to her annoyance, she is accompanied by a thirty-six-year-old chaperone who is neither mother nor friend. Cora Carlisle is a complicated but traditional woman with her own reasons for making the trip.

I put this book off for a long time.....
Revisado: 01-08-13
it just didn't appeal to me for whatever reason. Finally I downloaded it out of desperation for anything to listen to. And I am so glad I did. This was a great listen, I truly enjoyed this book. Its a great story, and not as predictable as i thought it would be from the description. I like that it takes place over a pretty long span of time and you get to watch Cora change into a strong woman. I loved that transformation for her. Although Louise Brooks was more of a platform for the main character of Cora's growth I found that aspect of the book really interesting too. I def googled Louise Brooks a few times during my listen out of sheer curiosity to see what she looked like and to read a little more about her life.
Elizabeth McGovern was awesome with her Kansas accent for Cora and Louise as well as all the other characters. Well worth a credit!

STOP. You should not have touched this flyer with your bare hands. NO, don't put it down. It's too late. They're watching you. My name is David Wong. My best friend is John. Those names are fake. You might want to change yours. You may not want to know about the things you'll read on these pages, about the sauce, about Korrok, about the invasion, and the future. But it's too late. You touched the book. You're in the game. You're under the eye. The only defense is knowledge. You need to read this book, to the end. Even the part with the bratwurst. Why?

Total WTF book..Loved It!
Revisado: 12-27-12
This book is totally nuts, totally! I enjoyed every minute of listening to it even though I am not totally sure wtf happened. I laughed out loud at times due to this books very clever dry humor (my kind of humor). The narrator was perfect. His voice was exactly what i would have imagined Davids voice to be like. His sarcasm was spot on and I think listening to this book may help people hear the authors sarcastic tone where they may have otherwise missed it in actually reading it. I have found myself still pondering stuff from this book a few weeks after listening to it which for me is the sign of a great book.
This book may not be for everyone but if you liked 14, and Mr. Penumbra this is worth your credit!

A debut of extraordinary distinction: through the trials of one unforgettable family, Ayana Mathis tells the story of the children of the Great Migration, a story of love and bitterness and the promise of a new America. In 1923, 15-year-old Hattie Shepherd flees Georgia and settles in Philadelphia, hoping for a chance at a better life. Instead, she marries a man who will bring her nothing but disappointment and watches helplessly as her firstborn twins succumb to an illness a few pennies could have prevented.

For me...So So
Revisado: 12-27-12
I have read many of Oprahs book club books so I was a little disappointed by this one. Don't get me wrong it was very well written and the narrators were great but the story itself wasn't as intriguing to me as other book club books have been. I usually find books written like this one a refreshing change (each chapter is its own little story adding to the 1 big story) but with this book I felt like I never really got invested in any one character which made me not invested in the overall big story. I finished listening, it was entertaining but it did not resound with me in the way I thought it would.
I believe that personally I am not in a place in my life to fully appreciate this book which is why I do not discourage anyone from giving this book a shot. I think there are tons of people out there who will really "get" this book.

Heartbreakingly Happy
Revisado: 12-27-12
I loved this book. I enjoyed listening to Arthur as much as I enjoyed listening to Kell and usually I tend to like 1 characters POV more than another. Both of these guys are so heartbroken but also so desperately hopeful that you cant help but have hope for them.
As always Kirby Heyborn was great and i thought Keith Szarabajka was such a wonderful match for the character of Arthur.
So, i don't write many reviews although I am always listening to books. I think my new years resolution is to start writing reviews here because I rely heavily on my fellow Audible members for recommendations. That said, listen to this book. well worth a credit!

Historia
Jack is spending the summer on a private island far from modern conveniences. No Wi-Fi, no cell service, no one else on the island but a housekeeper and the two very peculiar children in his care. The first time Jack sees the huge black mansion atop a windswept hill, he senses something cold, something more sinister than even the dark house itself. Soon, he feels terribly isolated and alone. Yet he is not alone. The house has visitors - peering in the windows, staring from across the shore. But why doesn't anyone else see them...? And what do they want?

I'm not a "teen” but I really enjoyed this book
Revisado: 10-13-12
Ok, so I listen to A LOT of books. Probably 2-3 a week (I am currently doing DIY projects at our little house on the bayou in Louisiana). I listen to several genres and often have to try out new stuff because of how often I listen. I never write reviews although I am not sure why as I find the reviews very helpful when choosing a book. I figured tonight I would write one since when I purchased this book last night it had no reviews. I am far from being a teen (aaagggghhh) and I am not really sure this should be classified as a teen book. This was a great mystery/wtf is going on book. I found myself telling my cats all my theories as I listened to this (my husband is away!) and truthfully after finishing I'm still not sure what actually happened. Usually that frustrates me but I find these are the kind of books that stay with me for a long time. I thoroughly enjoyed this listen, and Kirby Heyborne did a great job as always of narrating this book.
