Historia
Danny Cartwright and Spencer Craig never should have met. One evening, Danny, an East End cockney who works as a garage mechanic, takes his fianceé up to the West End to celebrate their engagement. He crosses the path of Spencer Craig, a West End barrister posed to be the youngest Queen's Counsel of his generation. A few hours later Danny is arrested for murder and later is sentenced to twenty-two years in prison, thanks to irrefutable testimony from Spencer, the prosecution's main witness.

Wow ...

No disappointment, here. A great "read". Nicely told by the reader, particularly the use of various accents. Easily followed, a few twists and turns. I was trying to "figure out" how it would resolve itself. Didn't expect this, though. Highly recommended.

Among the Classics
Revisado: 06-20-09
The narration brings out the brilliance of this amazing story. My Gr. 8's were riveted. Yes, Gr. 8's. A must-buy if you want to use this as a shared reading for students. I'll be using this every year.

Historia
Stargirl. From the day she arrives at quiet Mica High in a burst of color and sound, the hallways hum with the murmur of “Stargirl, Stargirl.” She captures Leo Borlock’s heart with just one smile. She sparks a school-spirit revolution with just one cheer. The students of Mica High are enchanted. At first. Then they turn on her. Stargirl is suddenly shunned for everything that makes her different, and Leo, panicked and desperate with love, urges her to become the very thing that can destroy her: normal.

Hmm...
Revisado: 04-04-09
Sorry, the narration by the late Mr. Ritter was disappointing, to be sure. It sounded like he was reading a newspaper. I've done a much better version in my classroom. What a bummer. Great story, "must" read - but not a "must" listen.

A Necessary Read
Revisado: 03-07-09
I use this for a read-aloud each year to my Grade 8's. Such important messages in this book. Having taught special needs students before, this connects with me deeply to the point that I'm able to share my own experiences with kids like David and Jason. I find that I like to actually read it myself because I emphasize Jason's "touching" in his binder of words as an effect. The book is on my Mac for my struggling readers to enjoy during the year. You must read this - and get this - if you teach middle-schoolers.

Long in the Tooth?
Revisado: 11-29-08
I probably should have chosen another book for my first listen on Audible. Some of the stories were moving and entertaining; but after a while, they begin to sound the same. I would have been happy with his top 30 columns. I'm on the 2nd half of the download (#55), and I think I've had enough for now.
