Pleasantly surprised

I was looking for something fun to play while cleaning the house but I hadn’t run into this author before. It was recommended because I have all of the Dresden file so I figured why not? That was book 1. I have pretty much been listening nonstop for the last couple of weeks. It’s really good and pulls you in right away. I got the 1-4 and 5-8 series sets which I finished last night at 2am (yes it’s a work day but it’s worth being tired. ). I’m going for the next 3 right now because I’m taking them to drive.

Miss Dresden stories. This little story was perfect!

Loved this! It’s just enough to keep the Dresden spark Ali e. Especially loved the bloopers at the end!!

One of the best book series

Love this book series. All 3 books are great! Blitz takes you on the next journey through the checquy and gives you a little history of the organization.

All action!

This is one for the lovers of the battle action. Characters race from one battle to the next. You definitely need to be familiar with the Star Wars universe to get the most out of this but it’s a fun listen.

Unexpected

I found this recommendation on an email list and then actually held off in favor of reading the first book in the series first. For US readers this is quite a treat since it's a little different from the usual police procedural set here. The Japanese approach is different and the heroine, Reiko Himekawa is a delightful bundle of angst, uncertainty, energy and emotion. The narrative is told through several viewpoints sometimes overlapping or adding more detail. Each character's voice is very developed and draws you in. A word of caution here though- there are recurring themes of violence towards women that are disturbing. There's also an ongoing attitude towards Reiko by her co-workers that (I hope) is an exaggeration of cultural differences in how women are treated in the US verses Japan. A lot of what Reiko deals with from her co-workers would end in people getting fired for sexual harassment here. I am not by any means expert on Japanese culture so this was a bit of a surprise to me. That said - I'm really looking forward to the next books.

Great performance and "OK" story.

The story was OK, I've read better but I've read worse also. The performance was fantastic! Great use of accidents and emphasis when needed. I've been on a space battleship/futuristic story reading kick lately and this series looks promising. There are several sequels to this one and I think I'll keep going. It's very common for authors to get better with their writing as they get more and more experience. I'm sure this is true for Larson as well.

Listening to them for. Second time

This is one of those series that you just can't stop listening too. I plowed through all of them and I just finished Staked and now I am re-listening to them again. Luke Daniels is Amazeballs!! Love the accents and different characters voices. Other audiobook narrators have a new standard to reach for.

Great book!

I have read reviews that say it's not about npc's in a gaming scenario, but I beg to differ. After listening to the story I can tell you that there are is defiantly a real gamers and interaction with the NPC's. Great story and they left it open for the next book. Looking forward to it! :)
