The narrator is like nails on the chalkboard.
Revisado: 09-02-24
Unfortunately I do not know whether the story was similar to Ms. Malliet's other novels which I loved. I tried so hard to listen but the narrator's "voices" she uses for different characters are very irritating to listen to. Makes the story hard to follow and not relaxing at all!!

Excellent narration and atmosphere

The force of nature was the main character in her book, as it has been in others. The descriptions take you there to experience that area of Australia for yourself.

Historia
Stephen Munro, a demobbed army officer, reconciles himself to taking a job as a footman to make ends meet. Employed at Wintringham Hall, the delightful but decaying Sussex country residence of the elderly Lady Susan Carey, his first task entails welcoming her eccentric guests to a weekend house-party, at which her bombastic nephew—who recognises Stephen from his former life—decides that an after-dinner séance would be more entertaining than bridge. Then Cicely disappears!

Horrible narrator
Revisado: 03-09-24
Horrible narrator. Grating voice and hard to understand. I have read this book and many other Inspector French novels. Now I have been enjoying other books on the series again through audible. The other narrator is great but I just can’t listen to this one at all. Tried many times.

Excruciating narration.
Revisado: 01-30-22
Penelope Keith was excellent in to the manor born but as Agatha Raison her narration is like nails on the chalkboard. I have tried two different times to listen to her version snd I can’t get through first chapter. I already know the story from reading the book. It is a wonderful story but wrong narration.
