I listen to anything Scott Meyer writes as soon as possible, and this book does not disappoint. Luke Daniels did an awesome job like he always does.
The worlds Mr. Meyer creates are so unique yet familiar. I am glad he is doing creative things and sharing them with us.

Dave Barry Crazy Story
Revisado: 05-18-23
if you like Big Trouble, Insane City, and the one on the cruise, this is the same style of many plots coming together with (mostly) well-intentioned idiots doing their best.
I am biased as a Dave Barry fan, but he has a signature style to his novels that I enjoy.

Historia
An actor is brutally murdered while sitting alone in his fully locked car. A note arrives claiming responsibility and explaining the man died not for who he was, but for who he pretended to be. He played Dr. Watson in a production of Sherlock Holmes. The note promises to kill everybody in Hollywood currently playing Dr. Watson: a surprisingly long list.

Scott Meyer doesn't miss. Weaving humour and story within a richly imagined universe.
Luke Daniels must have been created in a lab to read Scott's books. this author/narrator combo is audiobook magic.

Historia
In 2016, the morning after Valentine's Day, Luke's son passed away from breathing issues complicated by congenital birth defects. He was 21 months old. And his name was Finnegan. This kind of loss is terrifyingly huge and scary, but the love and light in this story far outweigh the tragedy. Through comic-book metaphors, Shakespeare references, and lilting Irish brogues, Luke tells the story of his too-short time with Finn. This is his tribute to storytelling, parenthood, and his rosy-cheeked, blue-eyed baby boy.

Luke Daniels is the best narrator there is, and this is a story that required the best. It's a tear-jerker, but funny in parts and you can feel the stress and trauma.

Historia
Peter Foster is a career conman who charmed his way into the lives of the rich and famous around the world. Justin Armsden is the reporter who’s been on his tail for 25 years. In King of Sting, the two play cat and mouse as Armsden retraces Foster’s merciless series of stings, from Australia’s glittery Gold Coast to London, Fiji and beyond. Armsden reveals how Foster swindled more than $100 million from hopeful victims while earning the trust of Muhammad Ali, British First Lady Cherie Blair and singer-songwriter Samantha Fox.

Hard to understand, harder to enjoy.
Revisado: 08-27-20
The story is fairly compelling, and the primary subject is fascinating. The main issue I have with this audible original is it seems to be adapted from a Podcast with shoddy audio quality and nowhere near audiobook standards. Couple the audio issues with the extremely unsatisfying ending, and we're at a must skip recommendation.

Historia
Doug Stanhope has been drunkenly stumbling down the back roads and dark alleys of stand-up comedy for over a quarter of a century, roads laden with dank bars, prostitutes, cheap drugs, farm animals, evil dwarfs, public nudity, menacing third-world police, psychotic breaks, sex offenders, and some understandable suicides. You know, just for levity. While other comedians were seeking fame, Stanhope was seeking immediate gratification, dark spectacle, or sometimes just his pants.

Even when finding oneself engaged in interstellar war, good form must be observed. Our story is set thousands of years after the Terran Exodus, where two powerful, planet-dominating families - the elegant House Jakabitus and the less refined Hahn Empire - have reached a critical point in their generations-long war. Master Hennik, the Hahn ruler's only son, has been captured, and the disposition of his internment may represent a last and welcome chance for peace.
