I only gave this four stars because it was just so hard to hear the details about these women. The author did a great job of researching and telling their story, and the reader did a beautiful job of telling it.

Such gorgeous writing!

This is the first time I have read this author, and his writing is just beautiful. The story is both simple and deep, the characters are rich and well developed, and the writing is so evocative! I will be reading a scene and there will be a phrase that just makes me laugh out loud! He can really paint a picture with his words. I thought that the reader did a wonderful job, although I did have to repeat some parts because his accent was a little difficult for me.
I highly recommend this book. !

Captivating retelling

It has been a lot time since I have read The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, but this was a fascinating retelling of the story from Jim‘s point of view. Not an easy story, but a very compelling one.

Interesting POVs!

This was quite an interesting story arc and very well performed. The characters were very interesting, even if not, always believable. I very much enjoyed the book, I was quite satisfied with the tour of story at the end. Maybe if I continue to read the series it will be redeemed.

A little disappointed

I must say that I have very high expectation for books by Kristin Hannah. This one was a bit simpler than some, a bit of a teen drama and a bit of a fairytale. It was a good story and a good book, but not quite what I expect from her. The narrator did a good job with all the numerous character voices.

I loved the idea of this book, showcasing the life of Rosalind Franklin. However, it just didn’t grab me. It gave me great respect for her, and for what she accomplished, but I was just not compelled by the story or the writing. I think it went a bit overboard in the scientific details, although those seem to be well researched, and the names and complicated interactions with the people she was working with. for me, it just got a little bit bogged down with detail. The reader did a very nice job.

Amazingly sad

This was such an interesting and insightful look at the lives of Sylvia Plath and Ann Sexton. The writer really knows her stuff and it was arranged
interestingly, each chapter by subject. It just felt so overwhelmingly sad to me. The narrator did a really wonderful job with it.

Interesting inside story

I had no knowledge about Mary McLeod Bethune nor her friendship with Eleanor Roosevelt. This was a fascinating look at what their friendship might have been like and what actually happened during that period of time in our history. The alternating narrators did a very good job.
