That was never going to go well. But why was Kai imprisoned in the first place? What has changed in the world since his assassination? Great story, awful narration.
Revisado: 03-27-25
I read the book and really enjoyed it. I got the audiobook so I could also listen to it. Unfortunately the narration is terrible - often rushed and poorly delivered. It is way bellow the usual standard of Audible narrators.

The story and the characters grow and move ahead. But the constant fighting gets repetitious and a bit boring.

Historia
The Bobiverse is a different place in the aftermath of the Starfleet War, and the days of the Bobs gathering in one big happy moot are far behind. There’s anti-Bob sentiment on multiple planets, the Skippies playing with an AI time bomb, and multiple Bobs just wanting to get away from it all. But it all pales compared to what Icarus and Daedalus discover on their 26,000-year journey to the center of the galaxy.

Another episode in the story of the Bobiverse and it does not disappoint. Several threads. Several exciting stories. The only question remaining: will there be another?

Historia
A century from now, thanks to a technology allowing instantaneous travel across light-years, humanity has solved its energy shortages, cleaned up the environment, and created far-flung colony worlds. The keys to this empire belong to the powerful North family - composed of successive generations of clones. Yet these clones are not identical. For one thing, genetic errors have crept in with each generation. For another, the original three clone "brothers" have gone their separate ways, and the branches of the family are now friendly rivals more than allies. Or maybe not so friendly....

Historia
In an authoritarian America, personal freedoms are at risk, information is being controlled, and legal citizens suddenly find themselves being deported. A growing resistance movement is active, angry, and looking to strike back. And a TV show for kids may be the key. Enter Celeste Montgomery and Bailey Vance. Celeste is an intern for the show that features Bailey singing and dancing with puppets. While Bailey teaches the kids about geography, Celeste is planting codes into the script, songs, background, whatever she can do to pass messages for the resistance.

Historia
For a moment, things seemed to be under control for Breq, the soldier who used to be a warship. Then a search of Athoek Station's slums turns up someone who shouldn't exist, and a messenger from the mysterious Presger empire arrives, as does Breq's enemy, the divided and quite possibly insane Anaander Mianaai—ruler of an empire at war with itself. Breq refuses to flee with her ship and crew, because that would leave the people of Athoek in terrible danger. The odds aren't good, but that's never stopped her before.

Brilliant from the first word to the last
Revisado: 08-12-23
I can see why this book won so many awards. There is not one false step. Not one out-of-character action for the sake of a plot point. Not one pause for a data dump. The description of the worlds and societies grows organically as the story moves forward and it is all so real that you never question it for a moment. The action, whether physical, political, social or personal, feels completely authentic. Book 2, here I come!

Not bad
Revisado: 04-09-23
These are public domain stories read by non-professional narrators. The quality of the stories and the narrators varies greatly. Some are quite good, some are quite bad and some are in between. For a free audio book, it's fine.
