What I like about this reading is how it educates on the importance of using your senses to understand what to do. Few books actually help you understand what you are doing wrong and how to win friends and influence people. I recommend this to everyone who finds themselves friendless and misunderstood. So I give it my rating of full marks because it really helps to understand that my Nunchi is off.

The aforementioned statement is akin to the reality of the book. We often forget how to be decent because people have programmed us to do things the wrong way. This book makes clear that common decency has a place everywhere. The book time and time again expounds on the fact that this common decency, when applied with care, can be both powerful and helpful. It is helpful not only in getting you what you need but help others feel good just by being in your company. A side note: A common misconception is that this book says never criticize but in reality it says criticism is not as effective as praise when praise is genuine and criticism is kept to its bear essential.

I am an afro-caribbean male therapist resident in Baltimore, MD and I struggled for a long time with trying to adapt so many modalities to my treatment plans with no avail. It was only in the marvelously simple "here-and-now" concepts of Dr. Yalom that I truly realize what I was doing wrong and how I can do better. The book is so simple to digest and Don Hagen's voice is the perfect vehicle to carry such a powerful text. The gift of therapy is the perfect audiobook to gift to yourself if you want to be more grounded and knowledgeable about what makes for a profoundly brilliant therapy session.
