Historia
Europe, 1940. As war rages across the continent, America watches anxiously from the sidelines. And President Franklin Roosevelt has been keeping an even closer eye on developments in the Third Reich. At the president’s personal request, Lanny Budd gained the confidence of the Nazi high command and began transmitting valuable information back to the White House. Espionage is a dangerous game, however, and Presidential Agent 103 soon finds himself a target of the French Resistance fighters he is attempting to assist.

Bronson Pinchot narration or nothing
Revisado: 08-24-24
Okay, that isn't entirely true. The book on its own is one of my favorites, and this series has given me the best return on my attention in meaningful information. Upton Sinclair takes us all across America, Europe, and the world in this one!
My only complaint in Reading the series is that characters Never say things that are... out of character. The variety/world of developed characters are where the story becomes alive, which more than makes up for this to me.
However, Bronson Pinchot performs the narration so that the characters are real; not ideals, not memes, and indeed real. Bronson demonstrates this to be my own failing as an imaginative reader... I was almost in tears towards the end of the book. I look forward to whenever the next audiobook in the series becomes available more than anything on Audible.

Historia
An American art expert raised in a world of European wealth and privilege, Lanny Budd is dedicated to his socialist ideals and to combatting the twin scourges of Nazism and Fascism. In 1937, a chance encounter in New York with Professor Charles Alston—his boss at the Paris Peace Conference and now one of President Roosevelt’s top advisors—provides Lanny with the opportunity to make a profound difference.

Revisado: 12-15-22
Upton Sinclair goes across the world introducing an American audience to different cultures, different people, and all the same politics. it's an amazing story, and my favorite so far. Bronson pinch show tells it in a way where you can discern when the author is going from nonfiction to fictional storytelling, which shows Keen judgment of the author. wonderfully done, I can't wait for the rest of it!

Historia
In the wake of the 1929 stock market crash, Lanny Budd’s financial acumen and his marriage into great wealth enable him to continue the lifestyle he has always enjoyed. But the devastation the collapse has wrought on ordinary citizens has only strengthened Lanny’s socialist ideals. In Germany to visit relatives, Lanny encounters a disturbing atmosphere of hatred and jingoism. But Lanny’s gravest fear is the threat a national socialist government poses to the German Jewish family of Hansi, the musician husband of Lanny’s sister, Bess.

You're telling me there's only 11 Books?!?!
Revisado: 06-17-22
At first, this series looks like an undertaking. Bronson Pinchot developed the same spirit Sinclair must have had when writing these books. He has a story to tell, and it's going to be real as can be, with as much detail as you can handle.
When I am impatient, and Sinclair's description of a scene or the state of mind of a character, I think about the old adage 'never hang a gun up on the wall if you don't intend to use it'. However in the style of an arms dealer, you might find what you don't buy used against you someday.

Historia
The First World War brought an abrupt end to Lanny Budd’s idyllic youth. Now, in the wake of the Treaty of Versailles, he barely recognizes the beloved Europe of his boyhood. At the start of his career as an international art dealer, Lanny travels to Italy and witnesses the brutal charisma of Fascist leader Benito Mussolini. Meanwhile, in Germany, the failed Beer Hall Putsch led by Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Party strikes an ominous note foreshadowing the devastation to come.

A great performance of Sinclair's swan song
Revisado: 06-07-22
I always felt there hadn't been much joy in Sinclair's writing, and it took his second book in this series and a wonderful narration to see his humor. It's much subtler than any humor we have today, like tapping on the fourth wall and telling you how the desert tastes on the other side. Whether the cake's a lie is left up to your judgement, but to ditch the metaphor I'll never think of the 1920s the same way again.

Historia
Jordan Peterson is believed by many to be the greatest thinker that humanity has ever known. He is Father Figure, Philosopher-King, and Prophet to the millions of young men who are his most fervent fans and followers. He is the central figure of the Intellectual Dark Web, an academic celebrity, and an unparalleled media phenomenon who has shattered all conceptions of what it means to be modern celebrity in the Internet Age. Of course, Jordan Peterson is also a narcissist, a charlatan, and an intellectual con man who doesn't even bother to teach the subjects upon which he lectures.

The greatest takedown of a fraud
Revisado: 03-22-22
Absolutely scathing and clear indictments of Jordan Peterson, no stone is left unturned. His criticism is so much better, as Jordan Peterson responded to it with nothing but ad hominem.

Historia
From the author of the landmark book of investigative “muckraking” journalism, The Jungle comes only the second book by Sinclair to be produced as an audiobook for commercial distribution: The Brass Check. Upton Sinclair turns his critical eye and his sharp pen on the corruption and lies of the media that ruled the day 100 years ago - the newspapers, the magazines, and the wire services. He lays bare their pervasive collusion with big industrial, financial, and political interests.

Know your enemy
Revisado: 09-21-21
Essential work for anyone whose asked "just how interesting is the time we live in?", "whose in control?", "what do I know?" or a million other that follow distrust of your source of news. Brace yourself to focus, you will find answers here.
The author doesn't put any emphasis on quotations different from Sinclair's own words, this caused me a lot of confusion in the section regarding a spurned and snubbed run for political office. Don't let a little common sense test dissuade you, your news feed will still be there when you return from this audiobook, God willing at a different perspective.

A great unfolding of power struggle
Revisado: 05-03-19
The plot is constructed as a series of dialogue which is cold and plain on the surface, but unfolds as battles of ingenuity between interstellar governments. I love how Asimov pits emotion against power struggles in a manner that makes humanity prevail in this universe.

Historia
Scott Adams has likely failed at more things than anyone you’ve ever met or anyone you’ve even heard of. So how did he go from hapless office worker and serial failure to the creator of Dilbert, one of the world’s most famous syndicated comic strips, in just a few years? In How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big, Adams shares the strategy he has used since he was a teen to invite failure in, to embrace it, then pick its pocket.

The right message in times of self-helplessness
Revisado: 01-21-19
Scott Adams animates a logical set of problem solving habits and skills from his own life, stuffs it into his oven of persuasion and plates up an easily digestible meal of useful satiety. The narrator is very energetic, which counters Scott's actual voice. I would complain about the cognitive dissonance, but the narrator is great for giving the story a light-hearted demeanor.
