Narration was impressive but annoying at times

I felt like the narrator was yelling at me lol. The male narrator did very impressive voice work but he was so loud that it took me out of the story several times. It began to get annoying about halfway through the book. I almost didn’t finish.

However, the story was cute, lighthearted, and charming. I was looking for something just like this book. I think I will need to find a different medium for the next one.

I dont often give out 5 stars but I really enjoyed this book! It was sweet, sexy, and funny. Both ladies were likable and their chemistry was well written. The performance just took this book right over the top for me. I really recommend giving this one a listen!

Good until the end

It was fine until the end. I didnt like the way the characters spoke about the kids biological mother. Would I do the same as the mom? No. But I think its in bad taste to villainize her. Left a bad taste in my mouth. Wish the author would have gone in a different direction.

Your standard romance

This book was predictable and good. It hit all the standard markers for a fake relationship story but I wouldn’t call it a romantic comedy. There really weren’t a lot of funny situations or laughable moments.
I’m not a fan of Emma Wilder as a narrator but the book was on sale and I wanted to give this story a chance. In the past, I have found her cadence can get very grating and unfortunately, this performance was no exception.

Could have been shorter

The more i think about it, the more i don’t like it. Penny is ditzy and childish throughout the entire story. Its hard to see what Eli likes about her. So much would have been solved if the two would just talked to each other instead of other people. And to top it off, you could probably cut half the story. The longer it went on, the less I liked both characters. For me, it definitely became pretty cringey by the end.

Had me in the first half

Honestly, I liked the book for the most part. Meghan Quinn really knows how to write chemistry between her characters. However… the second half was not that great. The relationship was a little unbelievable from the start (arent all romance books? lol) but Pacey had some pretty toxic behavior in the second half. That really threw me out of the book. The narrators were great but the plot was lacking for me.

Just as good as the first book!

I’ll be honest that it took me a minute to adjust to the third-person narration. But the book is well written and the dual narrators did a great job! I really enjoyed this book. I am looking forward to the next book!

Great story, mediocre performance

I thought the book was overall enjoyable. Story and plot line were good. The narration threw me off though. Both narrators had a weird cadence. They would put in odd pauses and emphasized the wrong words. It sounded unrehearsed like they recorded the first read thru.

Not bad

Generally, I liked this book but the romance did feel like a secondary plot. The book really centered around Natalie coping with the loss of her grandmother and other new realities. Thankfully, her friendship with Seth really helped bring levity to this book. I enjoyed listening to this book and, overall, would recommend.

You’ll get whiplash

The relationship in this book is straight up toxic. But I like toxic so I enjoyed this book lol. The book does mention some sensitive subjects such as incest, SA, drug use, death, and racism. Some more than others so be warned.

This is an insta-love, mixed with a ‘will they/ won’t they’ stay together as they work through their issues.

At first, I felt like Teri Clark Linden provided a too mature voice for Kat but got used to it pretty quickly.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and have already started listening to the next in the series.
