Historia
St. Elizabeth’s, a home for unwed mothers in Habit, Kentucky, usually harbors its residents for only a little while. Not so Rose Clinton, a beautiful, mysterious woman who comes to the home pregnant but not unwed, and stays. She plans to give up her child, thinking she cannot be the mother it needs. But when Cecilia is born, Rose makes a place for herself and her daughter amid St. Elizabeth’s extended family of nuns and an ever-changing collection of pregnant teenage girls.

I like how the author told the story through the perspective of different characters

If you insist in playing a tune, please, please, please, play only once. It is irritating to hear the repetition. Also, please, please, please, do not play the tune together with the reading. It is distracting and makes it hard to understand the words.

The story is very captivating. The reader captured the personality of the mother of the magician really well.

I think the music didn’t work so well. Most of the time it did not match the mood of the moment, clashing with the story. If you insist in playing some music between the chapters, which may not be so bad, please find something that goes well with the story, perhaps different tunes for different chapters that are more appropriate. Also, play the tune only once and never together with the words since it makes it difficult to hear what is being read and is distracting. Thanks!

The events of that day are now tragically familiar: on May 25, 2020, George Floyd became the latest Black person to die at the hands of the police, murdered outside of a Minneapolis convenience store by White officer Derek Chauvin. The video recording of his death set off the largest protest movement in the history of the United States, awakening millions to the pervasiveness of racial injustice.

Excellent, not just telling the story of George Floyd, but also showing many of the institutional injustices against black people. We all need to learn a lot more about it.

Historia
When we talk about human history, we often focus on great leaders, population forces, and decisive wars. But how has the earth itself determined our destiny? Our planet wobbles, driving changes in climate that forced the transition from nomadism to farming. Mountainous terrain led to the development of democracy in Greece. Atmospheric circulation patterns later on shaped the progression of global exploration, colonization, and trade. Even today, voting behavior in the southeast United States ultimately follows the underlying pattern of 75 million-year-old sediments from an ancient sea.

Awesome book that deserves better voice
Revisado: 12-03-19
Loved the book! It is an excellent review of the natural history of our planet, and of the development of the human civilization, with comprehensive review of the geology of the planet. Perhaps the best idea in the book is the suggestion of how cognitive abilities were selected in humans.
The author is a young, vibrant person, and this book deserves a voice that conveys that energy, instead the voice of the reader is old, monotonous and boring. It sounds like an old boring uncle and at times my attention drifted and I had to come back and listen again. Please make an effort to pick a voice that can bring some of the personality of the author! It makes a huge difference! Thanks!

Excellent, eye opening work!
Revisado: 09-03-19
Every person should read this book to become aware of the risks that generic drugs are imposing to our health, even if we are not taking them ourselves. Katherine Eban masterfully reports the frauds in the over the seas manufacturing companies of generic drugs and brings into question the role of the FDA as a serious, trustworthy regulatory agency.
