Historia
Washington, DC, 1950. Everyone keeps to themselves at Briarwood House, a down-at-the-heels all-female boardinghouse in the heart of the nation’s capital where secrets hide behind white picket fences. But when the lovely, mysterious widow Grace March moves into the attic room, she draws her oddball collection of neighbors into unlikely friendship. Grace’s weekly attic-room dinner parties and window-brewed sun tea become a healing balm on all their lives, but she hides a terrible secret of her own.

10 stars needed!!!
Revisado: 04-25-25
What a great book!! I loved it all the way thru, especially the way the character's backgrounds were divulged. The 1950 setting was perfect and the recipes were fun. It's a little slow in the beginning, but definitely stick with it...the payoff is tremendous. I love this author...her body of work is outstanding. One note as a Bostonian, that Boston accent of Bea's was wack...I dont know anyone from Boston that sounds like that!

I like this series but sometimes it can get somewhat convoluted. The narration saves it most of the time, but I think this story got away from the writer...

When the body of a bookseller is discovered, collapsed in a pool of blood in his Bristolian bookshop, it is immediately clear that he has been murdered. What is unclear is how someone could have met such a violent end in this quiet, peaceful place. DS Cross is adept at dismissing red-herrings but a worrying development in his personal life has left him hopelessly distracted, leaving his usual means of deciphering evidence challenged.
