Historia
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

Narration Issues
Revisado: 10-31-16
Apparently the narrator thinks the characters are whiny kids of some sort. Nobody talks the way these kids do. The inflection is distracting and takes away from a story that otherwise holds together very well. I kept finding myself wanting to slap Hermione and telling her to grow up and quit whining. Otherwise a pleasant set of compelling stories.

Historia
Economic Facts and Fallacies is designed for people who want to understand economic issues without getting bogged down in economic jargon, graphs, or political rhetoric. Writing in a lively manner that does not require any prior knowledge of economics, Thomas Sowell exposes some of the most popular fallacies about economic issues, including many that are widely disseminated in the media and by politicians.

Skewering The Economic Propaganda with Facts
Revisado: 01-23-14
Just about every facet of economic "fairness" is examined in an empirical and reasoned way and exposed for the actual failures they are in the real world. From rent control to executive salaries, these and other topics are examined by one the most brilliant economic minds living today. One of the most important books ever written for the common man on economics related in an approachable and understandable way. It's about the things we talk about at the barbershop and at barbeques. The insights and answers provided may be unsettling for those that readily accept the conventional wisdom presented by the media and politicians. Highly recommended for anyone that has never had a class in economics and wants a better understanding of the basics through real life examples on familiar topics.

Historia
You've heard of the "Great Books"? These are their evil opposites. From Machiavelli's The Prince to Karl Marx's Communist Manifesto to Alfred Kinsey's Sexual Behavior in the Human Male, these "influential" books have led to war, genocide, totalitarian oppression, family breakdown, and disastrous social experiments. And yet these authors' bad ideas are still popular and pervasive. Here with the antidote is Professor Benjamin Wiker.

Simply Excellent
Revisado: 01-23-14
A head on confrontation with several poisonous ideas presented in a level, reasoned and unpretentious manner. Ideas have consequences and this book shows the reader how some of the worst ideas have had a lasting and profound impact on our society. The narrator does the work justice and it was a truly enjoyable presentation. One of the best I've heard in a long time. Well done.

Liberal Snark
Revisado: 01-23-14
Author uses the premise to coat an unpalatable pill of Liberal condescension and snark. Kept hoping for some redemption or insight, but alas there was none. I don't think the author made any serious effort to be open minded, nor did he come away with a single position altered by one iota. He started a liberal, bashes conservatism throughout, and comes out a liberal fully intact and utterly unmoved. A total waste of time unless you are a liberal looking to have all of your misconceptions validated.
