Historia
Inspired by her research for the hit podcast Ultra, Rachel Maddow charts the rise of a wild American strain of authoritarianism that has been alive on the far-right edge of our politics for the better part of a century. Before and even after our troops had begun fighting abroad in World War II, a clandestine network flooded the country with disinformation aimed at sapping the strength of the U.S. war effort and persuading Americans that our natural alliance was with the Axis, not against it.

Excellent and timely history.
Revisado: 10-26-23
Beautifully performed by Rachel Maddow, this book illustrates that we are living through another fascist takeover attempt of the United States, that this happened just before WWII. The Nazi government undeniably intervened in three US presidential elections. It happened before and can happen again.
Well worth reading!

Historia
As dusk approaches a small Dublin suburb in the summer of 1984, mothers begin to call their children home. But on this warm evening, three children do not return from the dark and silent woods. When the police arrive, they find only one of the children gripping a tree trunk in terror, wearing blood-filled sneakers, and unable to recall a single detail of the previous hours. Twenty years later, the found boy, Rob Ryan, is a detective on the Dublin Murder Squad and keeps his past a secret.

Irish Story, Irish accent!
Revisado: 01-17-23
This book was an excellent story and depicted utterly realistic dialogue. The story should have been presented by someone speaking English in an Irish accent. I believe that would have added a great deal to the performance.

Historia
A century ago very few people dreamed of space travel. Today it is the most daring and technologically sophisticated quest ever undertaken, being driven not just by government agencies such as NASA and ESA, but also by visionaries such as Richard Branson (Virgin Galactic), Elon Musk (SpaceX) and Jeff Bezos (Blue Origin). To mark the 50th anniversary of the 1969 moon landing, this major drama-documentary series charts the definitive story of the past, present and future of humankind’s exploration of space. The Space Race is narrated by Kate Mulgrew and features a full cast.

Excellent!!
Revisado: 02-16-22
I learned a great deal from this book. I grew up during the 60s and the space race. I’ve studied its history, but this book provides a great deal of detail new to me. I also realize that once again we are in a space race, with China, back to the moon. With all that entails.
I also now can place the many recent accomplishments of commercial space in the context of what was accomplished in just nine years.
I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in space.

I enjoyed all of the performances but found that the sound effects frequently obscured the dialogue. As a result, the story was difficult to understand and follow.

Revisado: 09-24-20
John Scalzi has written two outstanding novels in The Collapsing Empire and The Consuming Fire. Both are a wonderful mix of screaming humor and searing science fiction vision, wrapped in an intricate plot that moves along the story at a sizzling pace. Along the way he creates numerous detailed characters, especially women as main characters, something few male sci-Fi writers attempt. Finally, the voice of Will Wheaton brings a great story even more to life. Will performed Ready Player One and many Harry Dresden novels. He’s as good as they come. You will love these books.

Not, that is, until the spring of 2015, when biologist Jennifer Doudna called for a worldwide moratorium on the use of the new gene-editing tool CRISPR - a revolutionary new technology that she helped create - to make heritable changes in human embryos.

Excellent book
Revisado: 03-21-18
This an outstanding book. It is classic Neal Stephenson, as funny as Reamde, and intricately plotted as Cryptinomicon (sp?). The book is so realistic about the politics of national security just before the first Iraq war that one thinks Neal must somehow have been involved. I strongly recommend this wonderful read!
