Historia
When Elizabeth Bennet first knew Mr. Darcy, she despised him and was sure he felt the same. Angered by his pride and reserve, influenced by the lies of the charming Mr. Wickham, she never troubled herself to believe he was anything other than the worst of men - until, one day, he unexpectedly proposed. Mr. Darcy's passionate avowal of love causes Elizabeth to reevaluate everything she thought she knew about him.

The performance added so much to this story as I both read and listened to this title…. As I read I could hear Mrs. Pike voice which bought another level.

Set in a small English village during 1812, this classic novel is one of the greatest love stories ever told! A poor country squire is trying to find husbands for his five daughters. When one of them, Elizabeth, meets rich Mr. Darcy at a dance, they don’t find much in common. But during the next few months, they overcome their differences and fall in love.

Got Even Better on Listening Twice
Revisado: 02-28-21
I would recommend to any WWII enthusiast. Great story about Denmark which I knew little about during war. The characters as always with Ken Follett come to life immediately and you feel like you know so well. The only dislike was too detailed on some boring details like radar and plane construction.....I am not sure how long it had been since I heard it and had forgotten some parts !!! John Lee did an incredible job !!

Performance was Amazing
Revisado: 11-27-20
I loved that the book took two characters to tell their stories and it was eye opening for many parts of WW2. The hardships and tragedy of war in both countries. Having read slot on WW2– their were some things that were out of character for the shortages— they were always having coffee and chocolate which I thought were hard to come by. In Germany— I have read the army ravaged countryside for food— yet they seemed to have their herd of cows, chickens etc to the end. A few of the Romance situations were a bit trite... But please listen as it is beautifully done and if you like WW2 - a must!!!

On the Caribbean island of Saint Domingue, an island consumed by the flames of revolution, a senseless attack leaves only one survivor - an infant girl. She falls into the hands of two French émigrés, Henri and Solange Fournier, who take the beautiful child they call Ruth to the bustling American city of Savannah. What follows is the sweeping tale of Ruth's life as shaped by her strong-willed mistress and other larger-than-life personalities she encounters in the South.

I almost stopped this book but so grateful I did not... Ruth was my favorite character in Gone With the Wind so loved her story and her loyalty to this family. She so complex and loved how proud she was of her status . The jewel of this is the performance beautifully done by Cherise.

Historia
The most popular and beloved American historical novel ever written, Margaret Mitchell's Gone with the Wind is unparalleled in its portrayal of men and women at once larger than life but as real as ourselves. Now best-selling writer Alexandra Ripley brings us back to Tara and reintroduces us to the characters we remember so well: Rhett, Ashley, Mammy, Suellen, Aunt Pittypat, and, of course, Scarlett.

Love this Sequel
Revisado: 03-03-20
What I liked most was that Rhett and Scarlett got back together!!! I do agree would loved to have had more of Rhett life separated from Scarlett..
I read thus when it came out years ago and had forgotten most of the story so it was a fun read - loving this journey.
Seeing Scarlett change as was huge as well - from a strong spoiled brat to a beautiful caring lady.
I wish for more now— where did they go and wanted to see their complete love blossom as they relearn each other.
The narrator was ok with women voices but not with Rhett voice at all....
Please take time and listen..... wander into Ireland and Irish life!!!!
