Historia
In little more than half a decade, Facebook has gone from a dorm-room novelty to a company with 500 million users. It is one of the fastest growing companies in history, an essential part of the social life not only of teenagers but hundreds of millions of adults worldwide. As Facebook spreads around the globe, it creates surprising effects, even becoming instrumental in political protests from Colombia to Iran.

Very insightful
Revisado: 06-23-10
This book was particularly interesting to me because I'm a software developer. David Kirkpatrick tells a captivating story about the inception and growth of Facebook. I've always considered Facebook to be head and shoulders above all its competitors and this book explained how that was the intent from the very beginning. For those not interested in Facebook, this book will change your mind. For those who are enthusiastic or even dependent on the service, this book will solidify it. I was so impressed with the story of Mark Zuckerberg as well. His intelligence, foresight and patience are inspiring no matter how old or experienced you are. I highly recommend this book.

It was ok!

This title was just "ok" as compared to other Star Wars titles. It starts out slowly but picks up after the first quarter of the story. If you're a huge Star Wars fan, you'll enjoy it.

A must read for the curious
Revisado: 02-27-10
It's definitely an easy and more comfortable position to take for those who feel that Young wrote this book to make easy money on a hyped scandal or to get revenge. The truth is it's an interesting history on the rise of Edwards' political career and the transformations he went through that caused his downfall. Andrew Young comes off as a naive and gullible follower despite the story being told by him, but he doesn't swear his innocence. In fact, I found the epilogue to be a satisfactory statement on lessons learned. If you've followed the scandalous story of John Edwards and his issues in the press, you owe it to yourself to pick up this book and hear it from all sides. Edwards clearly has some soul searching to do.

Based on hundreds of interviews with the people who lived the story, Game Change is a reportorial tour de force that reads like a fast-paced novel. Character driven and dialogue rich, replete with extravagantly detailed scenes, this is the occasion-ally shocking, often hilarious, ultimately definitive account of the campaign of a lifetime.

Superb!
Revisado: 02-24-10
This is one of the best audio books I've ever purchased. The insight into the campaigns was fascinating, and while there was definitely more shared on the Democratic side of the contest, I think it was a balanced account. I strongly recommend anyone who was really moved by this most recently Presidential election to pick this book up. Furthermore, the narrator was about the best I've ever heard. I couldn't be more impressed with this book, and it's likely one that I'll play back in the future. Highly recommended!

Historia
The Iran hostage crisis was a watershed moment in American history. It was America's first showdown with Islamic fundamentalism, a confrontation at the forefront of American policy to this day. It was also a powerful dramatic story that captivated the American people, launched yellow-ribbon campaigns, made celebrities of the hostage's families, and crippled the reelection campaign of President Jimmy Carter.

Very revealing!
Revisado: 02-01-10
I was very pleased with this book. I was too young to remember the headlines when this happened but had always wanted to learn more, and Bowden's thorough account is very well done. There's so much to this story. It conveys the fear of the hostages, the inexperience of most of the hostage takers, the desperation of the American government to resolve it, and the amusing antics of the hostages as time wore on. I highly recommend this for anyone interested in a thorough account of the Iran hostage crisis.

Historia
In a time of sweeping media change, the four major networks struggle for the attention of American viewers increasingly distracted by cable, video games, and the Internet. Behind boardroom doors, tempers flare in the search for hit shows, which often get on the air purely by accident. The fierce competition creates a pressure-cooker environment where anything can happen.

An Informative Look
Revisado: 01-26-10
This was an interesting look into the workings of the big networks and how they build their programming. Considering the recent Jay/Conan debacle, it's fascinating to read especially considering the short portion of a chapter that covers the switch-over from Leno to O'Brien. It's interesting to see how truly lucky these network executives are, despite the fact that they believe they are very skilled. Regarding other reviews indicating the fast pace is hard to follow, I didn't find that to be the case. It might be challenging if you're writing a research paper on the topic, but as a casual read you'll have no difficulty.

Enjoyable
Revisado: 01-21-10
I enjoyed this book despite it being abridged. The narrator was excellent. It did feel at times as though there were holes in the story, which is probably to be expected with an abridged version, but I didn't find that it took so much away that it made it difficult to follow. Good book!

Outstanding and unique
Revisado: 01-17-10
I had never read this book before despite playing the text based game on the Atari home computer years ago. I was delighted at how enjoyable the book was. I have never seen any of the TV shows or films based on this book, but they would be hard pressed to live up to the high standards set by this book. The narrator really adds to the enjoyment of the book. I highly recommend this one.

In this eagerly anticipated memoir, Palin paints an intimate portrait of growing up in the wilds of Alaska; meeting her lifelong love; her decision to enter politics; the importance of faith and family; and the unique joys and trials of life as a high-profile working mother. She also opens up for the first time about the 2008 presidential race, providing a rare, mom's-eye view of high-stakes national politics - from patriots dedicated to "Country First" to slick politicos bent on winning at any cost.

Worth the time
Revisado: 01-01-10
I'm glad I listened to this book, and I don't think it would have been the same had it not been read by Palin herself. However, I found it discouraging that she accepts zero responsibility for the McCain campaign. It sounds like McCain's campaign handlers weren't the sweetest people in the world, and despite Katie Couric's agenda, Palin's answers to the questions spoke for themself. Nothing too earth shattering is revealed in this book. It was ok.

Noted author, war correspondent, and award-winning writer for the Atlantic Monthly, William Langewiesche furnishes a riveting firsthand account of the excavation of the World Trade Center ruins following its destruction on September 11, 2001. American Ground is an inspiring look at the often contentious mixture of personalities, politics, and emotions that fueled this massive effort. It is also a testament to American ingenuity in the aftermath of a great tragedy.

What a story!
Revisado: 12-29-09
This book was controversial upon its initial release. However, the audio version does it great justice. The narrator wonderfully captures the very objective nature of the author's focus. Read it. There are more heroes to the 9/11 WTC tragedy than most are aware of, and this book describes some of them.
