Historia
Philanthropy Revolution is the audiobook all fundraisers, nonprofits and donors should be using to create trusting, authentic partnerships that can be sustained long-term. Philanthropy is changing dramatically, and it needs nothing short of an intervention to succeed. In this audiobook, Lisa Greer shows us how to 'save giving' by providing a clear path to success. With her help, the nonprofit world will see its donors energized, its charities better supported and its impact increased, all while building a more honest philanthropic culture.

Insipid performance ruins good content
Revisado: 05-07-23
I found myself being so irritated by the simpering tone of the performer (style very similar to Keith Morrisen’s narration of Dateline) that I to take long breaks from this book and constantly remind myself that the content what much more thoughtful and direct than the over the top and laden with ‘deep’ meaning narration. If you like that style or can look over it easily, the audiobook is a good choice. Otherwise, get a physical copy so you don’t have to combat the tone.

Historia
When Marshall McEwan left his hometown at age 18, he vowed never to return. The trauma that drove him away ultimately spurred him to become one of the most successful journalists in Washington DC. But just as the political chaos in the nation’s capital lifts him to new heights, Marshall is forced to return home in spite of his boyhood vow. His father is dying, his mother is struggling to keep the family newspaper from failing, and the town is in the midst of an economic rebirth that might be built upon crimes that reach into the state capitol - and perhaps even to Washington.

Very male POV. Female characters only exist as objects of desire, status, or mothers. Lots of old boy blather. Couldn’t wait for it to be over.

Monotonous Delivery
Revisado: 08-19-17
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
People who listen to books without multitasking.
Would you be willing to try another book from Derek B. Miller? Why or why not?
Yes, I don't think the story was necessarily the problem.
What didn’t you like about Sean Mangan’s performance?
If you listen to audiobooks while driving or exercising as I do, this book is a bad choice. The narrator speaks in a monotone which make it hard to keep focused on the story line. I kept finding myself completely disengaged from the book with no idea who the characters were or what their motivations were. This never happens to me, it's definitely the story, the narrator, or both. I''m laying most the blame on the narrator.
