Historia
Area X has been cut off from the rest of the continent for decades. Nature has reclaimed the last vestiges of human civilization. The first expedition returned with reports of a pristine, Edenic landscape; all the members of the second expedition committed suicide; the third expedition died in a hail of gunfire as its members turned on one another; the members of the eleventh expedition returned as shadows of their former selves, and within months of their return, all had died of aggressive cancer.

Great story, bad narrator

Good old-fashioned sci-fi horror.
Revisado: 09-25-15
If you want an action filled gory detail filled book this is not for you. this is closer to the early sci-fi horror stories of books and movies. The narrator/protagonist tries to understand a supernatural place. At the same time, she draws parallels to her life and self reflects on how she pushed people away.

Historia
When Lynn Barber was 16, a stranger in a maroon sports car pulled up beside her as she was on her way home from school and offered her a ride. It was the beginning of a long journey from innocence to precocious experience—an affair with an older man that would change her life. Barber’s seducer left her with a taste for luxury hotels and posh restaurants and trips abroad, expensive habits that she managed to support in later life as a successful London journalist.

Good memoir, even if her memory is unreliable.
Revisado: 05-17-15
Good read start to finish. It is not so much about Lynn Barber's accomplishments, as it is about the human element. I cannot stand to consume a book through audio if the narration is poor. The voice of the Carolyn Seymour figured strongly into my choice for this read. I would recommend this audio book.
