It isn’t often that men write about gender without sounding pompous, but Robert Webb manages it skillfully. It’s a frank discussion of toxic masculinity, grief and the growing pains of life. I’m impressed by how much Rob reveals of himself, the good, the bad, and the cringe worthy teenage journal entries. I’m so glad I picked this one out for a listen.

The Paler of Palin's books

I found this book really hard to get into. I love Micheal Palin's travel stories and I enjoy his readings, but this one just didn't grab me. Perhaps it would be better if I had seen the documentary, but I didn't find it as compelling as Sahara, Himalaya, Pole to Pole, Full Circle or 80 Days. I've not seen the full documentary for any of these save 80 Days and found all the books highly enjoyable. I think New Europe is an unfortunate miss from an otherwise excellent travel writer and audio performer.
