Historia
Every seven years, the Agon begins. As punishment for a past rebellion, nine Greek gods are forced to walk the earth as mortals. They are hunted by the descendants of ancient bloodlines, all eager to kill a god and seize their divine power and immortality. Long ago, Lore Perseous fled that brutal world, turning her back on the hunt’s promises of eternal glory after her family was murdered by a rival line. For years she's pushed away any thought of revenge against the man - now a god - responsible for their deaths.

My only disappointment . . .
Revisado: 07-07-23
is that I wish this was a series! I love reading books with Greek mythological characters and this story did not let me down. It definitely has a YA feel but I never found myself bored or uninterested while listening.

Very nice work of fiction
Revisado: 06-27-22
I went back and forth with this because there are some Biblical inaccuracies but decided to finish it because it is fictional. I enjoyed the story quite much but found it a little difficult how much jealously Jude felt toward Jesus. All in all, am interesting story!

Historia
The House of Rust is an enchanting novel about a Hadrami girl in Mombasa. When her fisherman father goes missing, Aisha takes to the sea on a magical boat made of a skeleton to rescue him. She is guided by a talking scholar’s cat (and soon crows, goats, and other animals all have their say, too). On this journey Aisha meets three terrifying sea monsters. After she survives a final confrontation with Baba wa Papa, the father of all sharks, she rescues her own father and hopes that life will return to normal. But at home, things only grow stranger.

What is this even about?
Revisado: 06-09-22
I started listening to this book with much anticipation as the description sounded wonderful! I listened about an hour and assumed that my mind must have been wondering because I had no earthly idea what was going on. I restarted the book and have decided to call it quits. I cannot get interested. The narrator has a nice voice but maybe that's what's losing me or something. Anyone else feeling the same? Maybe reading the actual book would be better?

The story could have been shortened without losing any content. The characters were easy to confuse because the same narrator read the part of more than one person in the story. I liked the book overall but it does not rank as one of my favorites.

I have wanted to read this series for a number of years and actually forgot it existed. I came across it on Audible and made the purchase. I had to start the story over a few times because I didn't really "get into it" right away. I am now well into the second book and am thoroughly enjoying them!!

Revisado: 10-21-11
Not only is this an amazing story but it is also one that is empowering. The women in this story are all fighting to achieve what is not expected or allowed. I laughed out loud and cried as well. If you haven't read or listened to it yet, PLEASE don't cheat yourself!
