Historia
Bobby N. Kowen is living his life to the fullest. He’s making friends, he’s learning new things all the time, he’s falling in love, he’s having adventures. He’s doing more in a single week than most of us experience in a lifetime. But that’s the thing. That one week is all that Bobby has. Birth to death...in just seven days. Bobby’s life is truly a race against time. No one who meets him will ever be the same. And they will each wonder: Do we live too long to really appreciate how precious life is?

Probably a great story for children, maybe?
Revisado: 11-19-22
The following is not a spoiler as I only made it 30 minutes in and my issues are obvious in the first 10 minutes:
Suspension of disbelief was already stretched to a max with an infant physically growing at an impossible rate. I had none left for the language learning though. Even if a child did grow mutant fast, was a genius beyond compare, and could perfectly repeat sounds he hears within hours of birth (speech), he still wouldn't have any clue what the words mean.
I'm sure there is a touching story to follow, but I had to call it quits before it ever got there. Any author who expects me to believe such absurdity can only have more logical ridiculousness in store for later.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Master storyteller
Revisado: 11-16-22
King is the absolute greatest story teller I've ever heard or read. He's the gold standard author for journey > destination.
I've learned to not expect the greatest resolutions in his stories, but the ride is always worth it even if the endings can be lackluster. His gift for immersing the reader into the story is exceptional.
This one is another great journey and it has a pretty good destination too.

Another great story
Revisado: 11-16-22
I tried listening to this over a year ago and couldn't get over how grating the narrator's unnatural cadence was with upward inflections preceding every pause. I quit under 30 minutes in. I've since run out of new listen ideas and gave it another shot. I'm glad I did. I didn't find the narrator nearly as intolerable this time. He actually does dialog and introspection pretty well, it's just the bits in between where it's grating.
The story itself was, as the headline says, another great tale of a Middle Falls time traveler. Anyone who has got this far is obviously already hooked so my only advice is give the narrator a chance; the story is worth it and he doesn't do as awful as it seems at first.

A good, not final, book in the series.
Revisado: 09-08-22
A lot of reviewers so far seem upset with the ending as if this is the last book; it isn't and to think otherwise is absurd. The plot moved on, characters developed, some questions were resolved, and as so many others are upset about it left off with cliffhangers.
I look forward to the next, and possibly last book in the series to come.

A very unique new magic system
Revisado: 07-12-22
This review is for the series. I enjoyed it, but I won't add it to my list of books I revisit. The performance was grade A, but the story was a bit clunky. This is definitely the work of an author still refining his craft as it falls well short of Will's work on the Cradle series.
What this series lacks is any emotional connection to the characters or the protagonist's plight (which is generally unclear). Some of the characters were great, but I never cared about any of them more than superficially.
I definitely still recommend to anyone who enjoyed cradle, or anyone else that enjoys unique magic systems and lots of action. Will's humor and imagination was on display, but I just never found myself really caring how anything turned out beyond general curiosity about how it would unfold.

Some superheroes want to save the world. Damian is just hoping to save himself. In the post-Break world of superpowers, necromancy is the one gift nobody wants. He too is a Crow, doomed to become a killer unless he can find a way to avoid the violent madness endemic to his powers. When a Finder offers enrollment at Los Angeles' Academy of Superheroes, he jumps at the chance, believing training could be the key to changing his fate.

A true rarity of the superhero/fantasy genre
Revisado: 04-29-22
It's a completed series/story! One I binged very quickly. This review is for the entire series.
This story runs kind of similar to the Super Powereds series early on due to the superhero school, but it is different enough to avoid being considered a copy. It's told in 1st person from a flawed but relatable if not likeable MC and it's much darker on the whole. It diverges substantially from that series as the tale unfolds. The world building and full story arc was unique and very imaginative. It kept me interested from start to finish.
I'm sure if it gains popularity the bible thumpers will be here bashing it for the profanity, violence, and the little bit of sexual content, but for those not so prude or squeamish it's a very entertaining story. The performance by the narrator was well done; good pacing, energy, and usage of different voices and accents for different characters. I will add this to the list of stories I re-listen to.

If you like unfinished short stories...
Revisado: 03-17-22
5 hours wasted listening to the setup for a story. Apparently this is book 1 of a series even though it's not mentioned outside of reviews that I didn't read; that's on me I guess. I'll update this if book 2 is part of the plus catalog when it's released, but if they want money or a credit for it I won't waste either. It isn't that compelling and book 2 will probably end with no resolution leading into a book 3 anyway.

I tried soooo hard to finish this book
Revisado: 03-17-22
I can't fathom how this book has a 4.3 star rating. It's a completed (free) fantasy series and I've run out of all the good ones so I gave it a go. It's like it is written by child and an old lady at the same time. Child because it logically fails so often that it's absurd. I kept overlooking the logical inconsistencies hoping the story would make up for it and the frequency of them would slow, but there are just an endless amount of them. Old lady because maybe she forgot what it's like to be young and confuses ignorance of youth with outright stupidity and a complete lack of situational awareness when writing this main character. The only thing that kept me going was the story seems kind of interesting and it is well narrated, but I'll never find out how it fully evolves. I quit with 3 hours to go (in the first book, not the series).

Jack Reacher was alone, the way he liked it, soaking up the hot, electric New York City night, watching a man cross the street to a parked Mercedes and drive it away. Dick Hill is so bad
Revisado: 01-07-22
I loved Reacher books, until I tried them on audible. Reacher is not a pompous prick when my inner narrator sounds out his lines, but he sure is in Dick's voice. He makes him flat out unlikable. He manages the same for virtually every character. Almost nobody dramatically pauses in every sentence in real life and yet every single character Dick reads seems to have the habit. He reads every single sentence like it's earth shattering information of high intrigue, even if it's just describing a meal order.

Riddled with stupidity
Revisado: 12-24-21
I couldn't finish. The author set a terrible tone of logical flaws and stupidity that foreshadow much more stupidity to come. The characters are likeable and supposedly intelligent and yet their actions are beyond stupid at times. Perhaps he assumed the second rate banter would carry this story...
spoilers below:
The author and any editors didn't think to do any research about such basic concepts as material life. They are worried that metal will survive hundreds of millions of years to be found by modern humans? No explanation about how they built a modern structure with working plumbing surrounded by dinosaurs without a construction crew? Which certainly would have altered those worker's timelines since the crew would have noticed dinosaurs... They go out to 'train' against dinosaurs? Suspension of disbelief fails so utterly hard. I love time travel stories and there are always small flaws, but the author's lack of effort to make a coherent 'believable' tale is insulting.
