I don't get it.

This is a short story that introduces a number of unique species living together on a planet. but the story is barely a story. I think it's a seed meant to introduce a book that will come later.

Essential Primer on Investing

This is a fantastic introduction to investing. If you are in your 20's it will get you started toward financial freedom and independence. If you are older, hopefully, it will jump start you into habits you should have started earlier in life - but you still have time to fix your money habits.

Funny, I didn't know what it was at first

I didn't really understand what this story was about at first. It grew on me and dawned on me as it went. It is warm and beautiful.

Continuation of a previous story

I was always tripping over the fact that this picks up at the end of another story. So many details that I either forgot or I missed that story.

I have listened to all the previous books. But I was disappointed in this story. It is all build up to one single action at the end of the book. The front 80+% of the book doesn't do anything.

Fun, Clever, a Little Convoluted

Scalzi's Old Man's Warm Red Shirts, and Locked In were awesome. This book is fun and good, but not at the par of those others. I enjoyed the basic story and concept, but there is a some twisting and turning that are cliche and an ending that you should expect from the early part fo the story.

More SBF than FTT

This is a very insightful bio of SBF leading up to FTT. The information about FTT itself was in the news, so if you followed the news you already know they key events. But if you missed the news this will fill in the story of the collapse. Yes, I recommend this book.

Novel vs. College Lecture

The author missed the point of writing a novel. It is the story that is supposed to explain the meaning of a new technology in society. It is not supposed to require a post-story lecture on what the technology is like. If this book had included ONLY the short stories, it would be much better than accompanying each story with a lecture which is totally unnecessary if the story does its job.

Disappointing Scalzi

I am a big Scalzi fan. I have listened to EVERY book and short story of his on Audible. Yes EVERY. I was excited when this new book posted and I pre-purchased it. But It is a very different flavor from his previous stories. It is short on character development. It has a Hollywood movie style plot - kind of like the Jack Black King Kong movie. Books are supposed to carry a deeper story than a movie. They are supposed to be able to express ideas that are too difficult to sell to mass audiences at movie theaters in a 2 hour sitting. This book does not accomplish what books are supposed to do. It is a movie story in book form.

Murderbot ... Who wouldn't love that

I love Murderbot. His inner dialog is so fun. I started this series when Audible offered #5 for free (smart move). Now I am working my through the series. Martha Wells might get on my "must read" list like Dennis Taylor, Andy Weir, John Scalzi, and Becky Chambers.
