Both my 4 yo and my 7 yo (and we, their parents) loved this one - Jack Black is perfect, and his performance is so perfectly silly it eliminated any potential scariness. Good Halloween fun!

I like Anne Hathaway's acting but this reading is...meh. Not very original, a bit like one person trying to impersonate all of the movie versions of the characters as opposed to doing a reading true to their & the book's own style.

The reading is good, but John Lavelle's performance of the girl's character, Rosamund, is totally odd... To the extent where it almost ruins the story for my daughter. Her comment: "Mom, why is he making her voice sound so weird?! I don't know any girls who sound like that..."

Great story, great narration - liked most of the music but some of it was distracting (change from bluegrass to jazz). But overall really fun with just the right amount of creepy!
