Historia
Dunbar-Ortiz adroitly challenges the founding myth of the United States and shows how policy against the Indigenous peoples was colonialist and designed to seize the territories of the original inhabitants, displacing or eliminating them. And as Dunbar-Ortiz reveals, this policy was praised in popular culture, through writers like James Fenimore Cooper and Walt Whitman, and in the highest offices of government and the military.

Great primer for a deeper understanding
Revisado: 12-01-18
Great overview and introduction to an Indigenous People's History that primes the reader/listener to dive deeper. I plan to read about the American Indian Movement (AIM) to learn more about the resistance of indigenous peoples in the americas from the 20th century generations experience.

Historia
Early in the 20th century, the Wobblies, or Industrial Workers of the World (IWW), fought for the rights of workers-common laborers, migrants, immigrants, black workers-unprotected by the craft unions. In the face of beatings, kidnappings, and lynchings by vigilantes, company detectives, and hired guns, the Wobblies organized in mining and lumber camps, the wheat fields, on docksides and in textile factories.

Fight War Not Wars
Revisado: 09-26-18
An interesting read about a revolutionary labor organizer sidelined by the government for the unions activity and stance against Imperialist War, all wars. Also interesting is how the Unions organization broke down after the government effectively removed the IWW's leaders from the struggle leaving many of the political prisoners with waning organizational support and a uninspiring movement to return to. Some or the sentiment in this story can be found among IWW members today who have been targeted by the state for their participation in the Trump era anti-fascist struggle l.
