Historia
After my infamous half-a-night stand with the mysterious Rayne, I moved on with my life. Success as a lawyer demands long hours and giving a hundred and ten percent to the job. I do carve out enough time to hang out with friends some weekends, but it's depressing to watch them pairing up while I'm relentlessly single. Then one morning, the man I can't forget shows up bruised and bedraggled at my office door.

Adventure from Halloween to New Year’sand counting
Revisado: 04-06-25
A chance meeting at a Halloween party leaves Everett wondering about the mysterious Harlequin named Rayne. Then, on New Year’s Day, Rayne shows up badly beaten and seeking safety.
Rayne’s escape from some bad guys takes him back to Everett, who he can’t get out of his head, or heart. Everett takes him in, but doesn’t trust him. Slowly they get to know each other as Rayne heals, takes in a dog, whom he names Champ, and charms everyone around him.
After Everett has a trial with a client that goes well, he’s run down in his car, and it’s unclear who drove the other vehicle, so Rayne’s pursuers come to mind. It’s not them, but it makes Rayne realize he needs to come clean, and he wants to anyway, as he’s fallen in love with Everett.
Their talk and his sharing of his evidence brings down a dirty cop and saves another client of Everett’s, but only after one more showdown with the bad cop.
Finally, the two declare their love and can see their way clear to starting a life together.
I loved this book, with all the characters from Mission City and some new people to add to the mix. The adventure that came with all the bad versus good guys made it a great read, and the romance still came together nicely.

Under his costume, the restless energy of his body promises to do explosive, unexpected things to me. So we indulge in a little fun, but when the clock strikes midnight, the man I know only as Rayne disappears into the crowd.

A chance encounter that means more
Revisado: 04-03-25
At a costume party, Everett sees a Harlequin across the room, and they exchange a few words, but the only thing he really knows about the stranger is his first name, Rayne.
They hook up, and it feels like something more than that, but Rayne disappears and no one at the party knows who he is. He does leave his mask behind, which Everett holds onto.
This is an intriguing, fun start to the book Rayne’s Return, and is well read by Michael Dean.

Historia
During my seven years as a social worker in Gaynor Beach, California, delivering orphaned twins to their unsuspecting father is the biggest challenge I’ve ever faced. These babies lost their mother and they need a loving parent, but is adorable Scott Wexler up to that challenge? Transferring custody is one thing—walking away is something entirely different, especially with the stress of Christmas bearing down on Scott too.

Parenting brings companionship, then love
Revisado: 09-27-24
When Anthony, a social worker, shows up with twins at Scott’s door, it’s a shock. The story is that Scott’s best friend used his sperm donation, unbeknownst to him, then gave up her babies to Anthony at work.
Anthony knows it’s too much for Scott and offers to help, guiding him with getting the kids settled, buying furniture for them, and feeding and diapering.
Scott really wants the kids, and doesn’t know why his friend never contacted him about taking them, but at least with Anthony, and eventually Lacey to babysit, things start to settle.
They realize it’s not the best time to start a relationship, but can’t help wanting more from each other. Meanwhile, they deal with a vet visit for the cat, a hospital visit for one baby, and Anthony’s estranged father, as well as the babies’ mother, showing up.
In all the chaos, they still manage to fall in love and form a family.

Historia
Having spent more than twenty years as an emergency medicine physician in war zones around the world, I barely have a home to speak of. A daughter I didn’t know about has died and left a child behind, so I must get to Gaynor Beach, California to claim my granddaughter. Her temporary guardian is the first man to spark my interest in a very long time, but it would be inappropriate for me to have a relationship with this much-younger man.

Family is who you make it, complex, yet simple
Revisado: 09-23-24
Hugh is an emergency doctor who learns he has a granddaughter by a daughter he never knew about before she died. He rushes to rescue her from a caregiver the social worker involved says is no good.
But, Hugh almost immediately sees that Oscar has only Merilee’s health and well being at heart. Oscar just lost his best friend due to an accidental overdose, and is a new single parent, contending with a harassing social worker, and at first, a grandfather he’s suspicious of.
But, Hugh is gentle, listens to Oscar, who helped raise his siblings, and they began to trust each other. Hugh has money so he can help fix up the car and the house Merilee will one day inherit. He also helps Oscar through the pain of missing Merilee’s mother.
They find their attraction growing, and unite against all the forces that try to cause them doubts about each other. There are also plenty of forces that want them to be together, and as they fall in love, they’re both committed to being a family.
This was a lovely read, with sweet Hugh, who quickly wants to help raise his granddaughter, and feisty Oscar, who can do it on his own, but underneath could use someone to lean on a bit. I love Miss Agnes and Oscar’s little sister, Lacey.

Historia
Newly hired Charleston Condors’ coach Jonathan Kelley is very aware of all the uphill battles he’s got to climb. There’s a new owner he’s got to please. New culture to implement. New players to train. New rules to follow. But one rule hasn't changed: don't spend so much time flirting with the cute bartender via text that you start to wonder if you're straight, after all. But Kieran doesn’t just make the best drinks in Charleston, or own the Pirate’s Booty, the most fun bar in town, he’s kind and sweet and undeniably hot.

One drink, two drink, all the drinks, for Jonathan
Revisado: 08-30-24
When Jonathan arrives to coach the Condors out of a terrible management situation, he has his work cut out for him.
He meets Kieran when he comes to the bar to ask if Kieran will keep an eye out for the players, and immediately something strikes him.
Kieran is also interested, but his drink superpower is nowhere in sight, and his gaydar seems off when Jon says he’s straight.
But that doesn’t prevent them from hanging out with each other, becoming friends, and eventually realizing they are interested in a romance.
They keep things under the radar until the end of the season, but share in the stresses of the team and getting through to the playoffs.
A fun novella where Kieran gets his story and Jon gets the man he never knew he wanted. The audiobook adds a layer of lightness to the story, makes the development of the relationship seem more gradual, which I really liked.

Reality TV that misleads real love
Revisado: 03-22-24
I had high hopes for this book, but in the end, it was merely OK. I liked Matt a lot, a funny, sweet guy in love with his best friend. Cody seemed a bit too harsh, critical of his best friend’s appearance, and drawing a strange rigid line between friendship and love.
They agree to audition for Husband Hunters, and Cody goes on two dates with two guys, neither of which are right. The third date is with Matt, who finally confessed his feeling, and Cody still shoots him down.
They return to their lives and Matt meets a great guy, but when Cody finds out, he’s jealous and begins to realize how he feels more deeply about his best friend.
I actually liked Matt’s new guy better than Cody, and with Cody being so adamant, it was confusing for him to have a change of heart.
The narrator was great, and the premise was fun, but the execution could be a little more believable if Cody was more gradually interested in Matt. I also disliked Martha, the producer, who was too pushy with medication and trying to create drama for her show.

Historia
Kenyon Ellis knows getting involved with Julian Anderson is an enormous mistake—but from the very first night, he finds him annoying, intriguing and ultimately, irresistible. One, Kenyon is a player, and Julian is a reporter, so hooking up with him, no matter how spectacular the nights are, is a terrible idea. Two, he’s falling for him, even if Julian continues to be prickly and impossible. But every time Julian’s walls shift, Kenyon sees the real man behind the attitude, and he only wants more.

Striving to win, finding love and purpose in life
Revisado: 01-24-24
As a series ender, this was a suspenseful read, with the Piranhas fighting to get to the Superbowl.
Kenyon, the guy who hasn’t been around for the team events, is busy with his foundation.
Julian is assigned to cover the team after the terrible guy before him leaves. They meet by chance, hook up, then realize they’re in conflict with their jobs. But they can’t get enough, even with Kenyon’s schedule and split loyalties, and Julian’s fear of trusting.
When they do decide to take the risk, they support each other through telling their bosses, and they make choices to make them work, above all all else.
I did find it odd that Julian didn’t talk to Kenyon about his job offer, as couples would, and this was also a book that was a bit too long, but it delivers pride, perseverance, love and hope, so no complaints.

The hockey player who came to stay
Revisado: 01-04-24
Marco has graduated from college and has potential to become a professional hockey player. But, he’s working on his friend Lassister’s ranch for the summer as a hiking guide, and isn’t sure what he wants after that.
Lass turned Marco down for a date, but didn’t want to part after college, so he asked him if he wanted a job for the summer. When they hsnv out, Marco shares his hesitation about a hockey career, while Lass talks about his dreams of researching sustainability options for the ranch.
They want to be together, both knowing it’s only for a few months, but Lass can’t help his growing feelings. His ex left him and abandoned all their dreams, but Marco is different.
Marco finds his passion in photography, and decides to stay, but Lass won’t believe him until he tells him he’s found a place to live in town and that he wants to be with Lass, but also make his home in Windsor.
Beautiful descriptions of the landscape of the Wyoming land and sky, and a fun story of life on the ranch. I love that Lass is committed to his family’s ranch, and wants to build a life with someone. I also like that Marco finds quiet and space suit him, and his family understands that hockey isn’t for him, other than as a hobby.
The audiobook was great, well narrated, looking forward to more in this series.

A lifetime of longing comes to fruition
Revisado: 12-26-23
Asa is a coach who gives his whole life to football, until a minor heart attack makes him have to scale back. His son Beau brings in his best friend, Scott, to help, but Asa doesn’t think he can handle it. He realized he loved Scott, and told him so 7 years prior, but Scott wanted to protect Asa and their careers, so he left.
Scott has loved Asa since they met in college, but kept it hidden because Asa was supposedly straight. Instead, they became best friends, and remained so for 20 years. Now he has to aplolguze for running, and has realized his mistake, only wanting to support Asa and be by his side.
Once they overcome the past, their union is strong and deep, and they’re ready to come out. Except with Beau, Asa’s son, it’s more complicated. Beau finds out by accident and is hurt most about the lying, but eventually forgives Asa and is happy for him and Scott.
This is a beautiful story of lifelong love that remains through many iterations in friendship, then romance, and finally, family.
The narrator gives an excellent performance, and the personalities of Asa, gruff and stubborn, and Scott, easy going, funny, but firm with the players, both come through.

A secret love hiding in plain sight
Revisado: 11-26-23
John and Phillip are sailors, and when John first joins, Phillip takes him under his wing. Though there is an age gap, they become friends and soon to be lovers.
Upon arriving ashore at home, John learns his uncle has died and left him his estate. This is a shock because he and his mother were not welcomed when they visited a decade earlier, due to their black skin.
Phillip is offered retirement by the ship’s captain if he wishes to accompany John, and both men are happy to be together. John is accepted by his staff, and Phillip becomes his valet.
A sweet short story, with the couple living out their lives together in a way acceptable in society in those times.
