Ups and downs
Revisado: 04-18-25
One star removed for anti-white racism displayed by the author. One star removed for forcing us to listen to a political rant. Nobody cares, get on with the story and leave your views out of it!
LOVE the narrator, her range blows my mind! I do wish the fairies were easier to understand though, speaking as someone who struggles with high pitched noises. The life she gives every character and every race adds such a special element!

Historia
"No killing Goblins." So reads the sign outside of The Wandering Inn, a small building run by a young woman named Erin Solstice. She serves pasta with sausage, blue fruit juice, and dead acid flies on request. And she comes from another world. Ours. It's a bad day when Erin finds herself transported to a fantastical world and nearly gets eaten by a Dragon. She doesn't belong in a place where monster attacks are a fact of life, and where Humans are one species among many. But she must adapt to her new life. Or die.

Phenomenal book
Revisado: 03-30-25
Firstly, I am removing one star for the author's obvious anti-white views. Those parts were absolutely unnecessary and took me right out of the story. One character was aggressively anti-white. The author should seek therapy for these views instead of airing them out in books.
But secondly! I LOVED this book. Especially the first half where Erin was kind of learning about levels and how to survive. Erin's is my favorite storyline by far! When the main protagonist shows up is was really depressing and almost had me DNF this. But I'm glad I stuck around and will be listening to the next one.
The narrator was phenomenal. Her range and consistency for voices is fantastic. I didn't like Erin's voice at first but it grew on me! The way the narrator gave each race so much character was so immersive.
Lastly! The length of these books. Omg. Love, love, love. I hate wasting my credits on pathetic 8h books so finding a 40h+ book!! Big fan of the length. Very excited the next book is even longer!

Little do they know that colony will become permanent–and the last stand of the human race. Because, without warning, every single person left on Earth simply...vanishes. Now, a thousand years later, the resources needed to sustain life are running out, and the very existence of the Mars colony is threatened. Humankind has only one option–to return to its home planet.

Shot and missed
Revisado: 03-18-25
They tried too hard to make this cinematic and totally missed the mark. Sounds like they're recording inside a low budget studio, it makes the actors hard to understand and the story hard to follow.

It’s officially booty o’clock, I’m alone again in my kitchen choking down a slice of terrible chocolate cake…and I’m pretty sure I just got drunk texted by the man I have a ginormous crush on. I’ve been daydreaming about Eliot Hoffman’s dimples for two months, and even though I’m sure this was a mistake on his end, it doesn’t mean it’s not an opportunity on mine. It’s the middle of the night, and I just wanna talk to him. So I text him back.

Historia
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

Unprofessional editing.
Revisado: 02-16-25
Not editing out all the gulping, swallowing, breathing, ect, is so unprofessional. The first book had the same issues and it was unbearable. This one is just as bad, it's nauseating to listen to.

Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Lip smacking
Revisado: 02-12-25
A book this popular should have been edited better than this... The lip smacking, gulps, deep breaths, ect, should have all been edited out. It's disgusting to listen to, VERY frequent, and takes you out of the story.

Left a bad taste
Revisado: 11-27-24
This book left a bad taste in my mouth. Go to your kids football games, love your family and nurture them emotionally and spiritually. God won't care if you make "one last sales call" if it means neglecting family. While this book definitely has a few good nuggets of insight, as a whole... it's giving "American Psycho" the movie vibes.

Swallowing
Revisado: 10-25-24
I can't stand the swallowing and wetmouth full of saliva sound the narrator has in this book, it's making me physically gag. I'm a massive fan of the narrator and intentionally seek out books shes a part of but... this is awful. Editing fail maybe.

Awful racist author
Revisado: 10-10-24
This author clearly suffers from extreme racism towards white people. Even admitting statistically white people report suffering from anxiety more than other ethnic groups, while in the same breath blaming white people for other people's anxiety? This author is a blatant racist.

No one survived the last battle unscathed. Flint is angry at the world, Jaxon is turning into something I don't recognize, and Hudson has put up a wall I'm not sure I'll ever break through. Now war is coming, and we're not ready. We're going to need an army to have any hope of winning. But first, there are questions about my ancestors that need answers. Answers that might just reveal who the real monster is among us. And that's saying something in a world filled with bloodthirsty vampires, immortal gargoyles, and an ancient battle between two gods.

Not a fan of this one...
Revisado: 08-06-24
I share the frustration of other reviewers. The author pushes the LGBTQ agenda so forcefully that it detracts from the plot. Repetitive phrases and excessive hyperbolic language comes across as lazy writing. The infantilization of grown characters is off-putting.
