Historia
When Mary Shelley visits Lord Byron in the Swiss Alps, she hopes it will be a welcome distraction from her broken heart. Instead, she’s surrounded by enigmatic guests with dangerous secrets. From the moment of her arrival, Mary and the others are forbidden to leave the villa after dark. But tales of feral beasts aren’t the only dangers. John Polidori, a handsome guest, fervently pursues local legends that the dead can rise. When the group plays a game of storytelling, they weave tales of nightmarish ghouls - and Mary learns their harmless stories have the power to conjure.

A Fun Romp into the Origins of Beloved Classics
Revisado: 03-03-21
I enjoyed this listen. It was both chilling and absolutely engaging at the same time, and it was fun to see the ties that connected this retelling with the original tales and the Mary Shelley's life.
I will say that I was glad I got the opportunity to listen to the omnibus version of the story though and not to the separate books on their own.
Why, you ask?
Because I felt like the Omnibus itself all together should have been considered one stand alone novel, and that the story didn't need to be separated into three parts... or rather, didn't need to be separated into three different books (3 parts of one book is understandable). All three books together felt like just the right length for one full stand alone novel... not too long and not too short.
But other than that and a very few very minor details (not really worth mentioning in this review), I did enjoy the book quite thuroughly and plan to share it with my younger sister. I think she'll enjoy it too. :)

I loved every minute!!
Revisado: 01-28-21
This series is amazing!!! I couldn't stop listening. I'd never tried and RPG series before this one but the others I've tried while waiting for this third book to come out we're not nearly as satisfying for me. I've read some reviews of other RPG fantasies that complain that without the threat of actual death, the stories weren't as engaging. I did not have that issue with this series. I was completely engaged with Vincent's thought methods, the way he'd work through problems, the way he'd use his teammates' advantages to all of their gain. the stakes were high to begin with, with the threat of them having to wait 350 years to escape the gameworld, but that was definitely upped in this last book when Vincent discovered the AI planned to keep everyone there indefinitely... I will definitely be recommending this series, and even plan to get my boyfriend to read/listen to it!

Historia
For thousands of years, there has been a cycle: a Demon King rises and conquers, and a Hero is reborn a hundred years later to defeat him. Each time, civilizations are ground to dust beneath the Demon King's hordes, but humanity has remained secure in the belief that a Hero of legend will always save them. There's just one slight problem. It's only been 23 years since the Demon King's latest rise, and this time, he's already conquered more than half the world. If humanity simply waits for the Hero's return, there may be no world left for him to save.

I loved this book from beginning to end. It was absolutely BEAUTIFULLY done! If while listening you don’t understand what inspired it, the. I really don’t know what to tell you because that was probably the best part!!

A fun little romp
Revisado: 04-22-20
This was a decent story. Certainly interesting. I would say it’s probably a medium type of story, fun, different... but unfortunately I didn’t find it particularly engaging. That could just be me, though. I found it hard to concentrate on the storyline and had a hard time connecting with Lacy’s character. In fact, on several occasions i found myself annoyed with her. I really enjoyed Jinx’s character though...
I can’t decide if I will want to check out the second book when it comes out or not.

I loved everything about this story!! From the very beginning, I could tell it was going to become a new favorite, and I sure wasn’t wrong. As a musician myself and coming from a musical family, music has always been such a huge part of my life, and this book really captures the true magic of what music really is and spins it into a beautiful, ethereal story that will stay with me long into the future. I can’t wait to share it, and HOPE that a sequel comes out soon!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Historia
When 12-year-old Nick runs away from his uncle's in the middle of a blizzard, he stumbles onto a very opinionated bookstore. He also meets its guardian, the self-proclaimed Evil Wizard Smallbone, who calls Nick his apprentice and won't let him leave but won't teach him magic, either. It's a good thing the bookstore takes Nick's magical education in hand, because Smallbone's nemesis - the Evil Wizard Fidelou - and his pack of shape-shifting bikers are howling at the borders.

A Fun Whimsical Read!
Revisado: 01-20-19
What a fun book! When I saw it sitting in the bookstore I work at, I knew I just had to read it and it turned into quite the romp. To be honest, It’s not the type of book I think I would normally pick up on a whim, but it was worth every second of listening... i enjoyed the pleasant mix of modern day with fairy tale, and you can’t help falling in love with the characters... you get frustrated with and at Nick (whose the MC), and you can’t help getting attached to Zachariah Smallbone and his Evil Wizard Bookshop. I give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars... Because it was fun and enjoyable and I loved it, even if it wasn’t my favorite kind of read. It was still DEFINITELY worth it!!!

Such a beautiful modern fairytale!!!!
Revisado: 05-27-18
Unlike many of the other reviewers, when I started listening to this story, I hadn’t seen the movie yet or read the book. But I’d heard lots of good things about the story so I decided to give it a shot.
This story was FANTASTIC. I seriously loved everything about it and I’m glad that there’s more to the series because I plan to go through them all. It’s a beautifully told fairytale type story with all the things every fairytale lover NEEDS, but it turns things on their heads a bit and mixes them in in such a fun, quirky, lovable, and hilarious way that it makes it into something new and different. It’s a completely enchanting magical ride that I currently have rated up at the top of my favorite list, along with The Last Unicorn, Narnia, and Harry Potter. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Fairies and silver and mirrors and stone
Revisado: 08-18-16
This was a great edition to the Mirror-world novels... not my most favorite of Mrs. Funke's books (or series... I reserve that place for the Ink trilogy. ;) ) but still an exciting tale. one of the things I love most about her books is that when things get dark... they get REALLY dark... and even when you think things have GOT to be getting lighter, they get darker still. buy she mixes in just enough hope and love and wonder to balance the dark and keep readers wanting more. (and, I have to say, I LOVE the tiny nods she made to the Ink books in this story... made me so happy!)
