Was kinda hoping for a deeper dive into a situation like what Ronson covers in "Publicy Shamed" but instead of going into the twitter shaming that preceded Ames's death, he focuses a lot of time on whether or not she was in a good relationship (*spoiler* probably not) and a lot of the book is about the character of her husband. but he comes off no worse than the other of the people interviewed (spoiler *thery're all a bit awful and a bit broken*).

The author eliminates all the questions raised one by one and gets to no real conclusion. Was she murdered by her husband? no. Was she abused on a porn set? kinda, not really. Did other porn stars bully her on social media? kinda, not really. Was she troubled? definitely. Did twitter drive her to suicide? inconclusive, but it certainly didn't help.

There's a lot of reverence for the dead, which makes sense, it's a sad story and nobody wants to hear about the character flaws of the tragically dead-- but without acknowledging her shortcomings the book communicates quite early on there are avenues the author is not willing to go down. Which was probably wise because it's probably really hard to do without coming off sounding disrespectful of a tragedy.

Perhaps the author felt he had already covered a lot of social media angle in his previous books but there's interesting angles I was hoping to learn more about like the trend in porn of older men having relationships with younger women. or how it even works being in a relationship with someone who has sex with other people for a living and how that reflects on the relationship that the book dances around making the center of.

I was kinda hoping for something where i'd walk away having learned something and gained a bit more compassion for my fellow human but instead I just feel kinda guilty for being entertained for 3+ hours digging around Ms.Ames's life. It's not really a deep look into the porn industry or at social media. It's mostly just a sad story about broken people.

But all in all not a bad listen.
Curious to see what he does next.

Fans of books like Monster Hunter International will find much to like here. It's not overly complicated or sophisticated. Although I could have used a score card to keep track of all the other-wordly things/ monsters/ elder gods.

A lot of big action, tough guy talk and post-apocalypse adventure that's more Fallout than Mad Max.

The narrator does a good job but doesn't quite fit the main character.

Where does Stinker Lets Loose! rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I've been a audible member since 2011 and Stinker Lets Loose! is easily one of the best things I've listened to on here.

Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?

Jon Hamm and the narrator Eric Martin are great. Both nail the tone of a 70s smokey and the bandit type movie. The accompanying music is also pitch perfect.

Any additional comments?

Hopefully Audible does more with Stinker or at least more Jon Hamm.

What made the experience of listening to Doctor Who: Silhouette: A 12th Doctor Novel the most enjoyable?

Narrator Dan Starkey does a pretty decent Doctor (crucial to any Doctor Who audio book) and reprises his character of Strax from the show in the books best moments. Was hoping for a bit more Jenny and Madame Vastra.

What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?

The history of corporatization is laid out rather well.

Any additional comments?

I love Douglas Rushkoff's style. A lot of his books are very much products of their time but this one holds up quite well. I'm sure a Life Inc 2014 would have a different take than the original but the ideas here are still sound. I suggest reading it to help articulate and define your own view rather to read just to read something that shares your own worldview.

What made the experience of listening to The Wise Man's Fear the most enjoyable?

This is probably the best Audio Book on Audible. I've been searching for something as good but so far nothing compares. The writing here is clean and eloquent so you never feel lost but there is a good deal of figurative language that is quite beautiful as well.

What did you like best about this story?

The character's victories are earned. Whenever something awesome happens it's wonderful because you're totally rooting for the hero. He pulls off something amazing feats but they all are grounded in the legwork the protagonist put in so they feel like true accomplishments not flights of fancy.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Lots, you really feel like you're in the character's head.

Any additional comments?

Everyone I suggest this series to falls madly in love with it. really looking forward to book 3.

Would you be willing to try another book from Larry Correia? Why or why not?

YEP. I mean this stuff is cheesy but like in the way the show Arrow is bad but good. It's so action moviey and filled with tropes and cliches but FUN. You can't tell if the author aware of how bad is it but I hope not because that's kinda what makes it good. I went from the 1st book immediately to the second, the third one lost me a bit because it shifts main characters from the big dumb hero to the cheesy southern accent father figure but I might be sucked back in if the mood strikes.

Any additional comments?

I can't decide whether I like the longer or shorter who books. I would have loved if this one went on for a bit longer. My wish is for Neil Gaiman to write a longer Who story as his voice fits so perfectly with Who fiction.

Have you listened to any of Nicholas Briggs’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I think the one thing a narrator of a Doctor Who novel has to do is do a decent impression of the doctor in the story. It's not the best Matt Smith I've heard but it works. And yes the Dalek voices are done with the FX.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There's a bit of social commentary hidden in the story. The doctor tries to convince a world of people that the Daleks are evil but they are too easily distracted by reality TV. He tries to hijack the TV broadcast but people are mostly just annoyed.

Any additional comments?

I almost stopped when I realized the doctor's companions in this story were 3 young children but the premise is interesting enough to keep going. Not the doctor vs dalek showdown one would hope for and no huge triumph at the end but a neat twit.
