Historia
For someone who made a career out of oversharing on the Internet, Tyler Oakley has a shocking number of personal mishaps and shenanigans to reveal in his first book: He experienced a legitimate rage blackout in a Cheesecake Factory; he had a fashion stand-off with the White House Secret Service; he crashed a car in front of his entire high school in an Arby's uniform; he projectile vomited while bartering with a grandmother.

Enjoyable
Revisado: 11-01-15
I picked this audiobook up having never heard of Tyler Oakley (at 40 I'm a bit out of the target age group), but I loved the cover and the book had such great ratings I thought I would give it a go. i'm glad I did as it introduced me to the world of professional You Tubers (who knew there was such a thing!) and some of the anecdotes had me laughing out loud. Told with great gusto Tyler does a good job of narrating and I can imagine that any fan of his would love this audiobook. As someone who didn't know of Tyler Oakley prior, the book was entertaining and enjoyable, but I think his fans will get a lot more out if it.

Historia
Pirriwee Public is a beautiful little beachside primary school where children are taught that 'sharing is caring.' So how has the annual School Trivia Night ended in full-blown riot? Sirens are wailing. People are screaming. The principal is mortified. And one parent is dead. Was it a murder, a tragic accident or just good parents gone bad? As the parents at Pirriwee Public are about to discover, sometimes it's the little lies that turn out to be the most lethal.

Revisado: 05-14-15
i really loved this story. it was so well crafted, the characters engaging and I laughed, cried and inwardly screamed with anger and frustration. best of all I was not disappointed with the big reveal at the end. What more can you ask for.
the narration was well done and suited the tone if the story. i would happily listen to another book performed by Caroline Lee.

Historia
Riley Tanner has a best friend, the best friend a girl could ask for. He's supportive, loyal, honest, trustworthy, kind, and thoughtful. He's also the biggest player in school. Their relationship has always been easy and affectionate, but after Riley's month long vacation, things become a little strange. She starts to look at him in ways that go way beyond the 'friend zone'. Add in her best friend's rival, and things become a whole lot more complicated.

Loved it, hated it
Revisado: 04-25-15
I really enjoyed the overall storyline of this book, it was quite involved and a lot happened over the course of the book. However, there was lot that I intensely disliked about this book as well. Primarily these were:
1. The reader has to suspend their belief quite significantly as the story unfolds, primarily due to the behaviour of the parents. For instance, Riley's parents don't seem to express any concern over their 16 year old daughter going on a date with a 21 year old, even though her date quite rightly points out that they can't have sexual relations because he could get charged with statutory rape. Also, they seem to be quite happy for Riley and her best male friend to have sleepovers in the same bed all the time, even though she at 16 and he at 18 are at a prime age for something more than friendship to be going on.
2. Clay constantly refers to Riley as 'Riley Bear' which became incredibly annoying after a while. Ditto with Blake always referring to her as jailbait because she was younger than he. Neither one of her romantic interest seemed to call her by her real name.
3. The two MC constantly telling the reader how beautiful their boyfriend/girlfriend is... Ok, we get it, they are extremely good looking!
4. The fairly constant stream of girls and even women who hit on Clay or Blake while Riley is out with them, or the constant glares and dirty looks she gets from females when she is seen together with them.... do females really behave this way when they see another girl with a good looking guy? Apparently they do. And
5. The slut shaming.
However, although these facets of the story aggravated the hell out of me, I was thankfully still able to enjoy the overall story. At first it seemed there was going to be an annoying love triangle but it was great to see the story take a surprising turn and go down a completely different path. The relationship that Riley eventually forms with one of the boys
Is really quite charming and loving and I really cheered for them to work. The characters also have to face some trials and tribulations over the course of the book and this kept me interested in the story.
Finally, This is the second young adult book I have listened to that was narrated by Andrea Emmes and I think she performed well. She seems quite suited to the YA genre and I have enjoyed her narration on both occasions.
Overall, I would say if you feel you can move past the aforementioned annoying parts of the book, this may be an audiobook you could enjoy.
I was provided a free copy of this audible book in exchange for an honest review.

The writing was lovely and the story interesting, made more so that it is based on a true story of two Southern sisters who spent their lives campaigning against slavery and for the rights of women.
the performance of both barrators was superb as they truly brought the story to life.

Suprisingly Good
Revisado: 04-12-15
I was given a copy of this Audible book in exchange for an honest review through Audiobook Blast.
This book took me by surprise... several times. The first half seemed to be a fairly typical YA with a somewhat interesting plot line. But then the twists and turns start happening and the story turned into something so much more. At times I found myself wondering if this was a bit too full on to be a YA.
All I can say is don't listen to this book thinking you are going to get some typical teen romance or you will be sorely disappointed. This book is violent, with unlikable and cruel characters and a surprisingly savvy female protagonist who will do anything to survive the situation she finds herself in.
I also enjoyed the narration and found the performance easy to listen to.

One hundred and seventy years from now, aliens decimate Earth. A relative handful of humans survive, hidden in deep subterranean enclaves that offer some protection from surface radiation. Although the main attack is now seven years in the past, one alien ship remains in orbit, and the conquerors are not content merely to let humanity lick its wounds...

Original story
Revisado: 04-11-15
I really found Kyrathaba Rising an original story with some interesting concepts. On the one hand it is a scifi with an alien invasion, androids and lots of tech talk. On the other hand its a dystopia because earth has been destroyed and the remaining humans are trying to survive. But... there is also a fantasy element where some characters find themselves immersed in a World of Warcraft type game.
Unfortunately, the narration let the story down. The narrator tended to draw the last word of a sentence out to the point where it was such an annoyance I had to increase the speed to 1.5 so it wasn't quite as noticeable. This reduced my enjoyment of the book as it is quite dense with a lot of different plot lines happening at once and the higher speed meant it was difficult to follow. My recommendation is to try the sample before purchase to make sure the narration doesn't bother you. If it does bother you, consider buying it in print because it is a good story.

Claire is a 20-something, single mom who grudgingly helps her best friend sell sex toys while she attempts to make enough money to start her own business to give her foul-mouthed, but extremely loveable (when he's asleep) toddler a better life. When Carter, the one-night-stand from her past that changed her life forever, shows up in her hometown bar without any recollection of her besides her unique chocolate scent, Claire will make it a point that he remembers her this time. With Carter's undisguised shock at suddenly finding out he has a four-year-old son and Claire's panic that her stretch marks and slim-to-none bedroom experience will send the man of her dreams heading for the hills, the pair will do whatever they can to get their happily ever after.

Fun and naughty
Revisado: 04-10-15
This was quite a funny book with several laugh out loud moments. it was lighthearted, perfect for a holiday or travel.
I would give a warning though that the language is very explicit with lots of swearing throughout.
The narrator's performance is good, however I personally found that she sounded significantly older than the age of the characters, which I found distracting.

Psychological Thriller
Revisado: 04-06-15
The Deadliest Game was a fairly standard psychological thriller that I could imagine would be perfect for making into a film.
I liked the main character Laura, a women who had suffered significant trauma in her life but will still able to stand up for herself when required.
It took me a while to get used to the narrator and I did have to speed it up in order to enjoy the performance, however I find that pretty standard for me these days.

Great historical fiction
Revisado: 04-03-15
This is the story of a slave from San Domingue, now known as Haiti. Tete's story is both heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. she has known the terrible life of a slave but also the love if family and friends. i found the historical evolution of the slave situation and rebellion on the island fascinating as well as the life journey of all the people in Tete's life, including her slave master. This is a great family saga for lover's of historical fiction set in the Caribbean and Southern USA.

Great debut
Revisado: 03-27-15
I really enjoyed this story. the author and narrator did an amazing job of pulling the listener into Jacob's violent and crime infested world. Jacob is a true anti-hero who is immersed in a world of crime and violence, however the reader/ listener can't help but hope that he will extricate himself from this terrible life he was born into and escape.
The narration was fantastic but too slow. once I speeded it up to about 1.5x speed it was perfect.
