Historia
Greg and Julian need to make a choice—die in the tornado that’s sucked them up in their van, or agree to hunt monsters in a world full of magic and levels and, oh yeah…monsters. The two frat bros may be master ghost hunters to their podcast listeners, but they never expected their antics to be taken seriously by a goddess in another dimension. And since when are ghosts the same as monsters? Awkward. But when the other option is certain death, it seems like it’s worth giving it the old college try.

a good buddy series start
Revisado: 01-11-25
In this series, it seems Ugland is starting a buddy adventure, where the destination and "main quest" isn't as meaningful as the character development and relationship between the two main characters.

Historia
Land-ho! Clyde and co. have finally—finally—made it to the City of Darkness. Which turns out to actually exist! One small problem though. Anyone and anything that sets foot on the island immediately disappears. Ceases to exist. Poof. To complete the quest, Clyde needs to figure out how to actually enter the city and steal the crown jewels . . . without getting stuck in the town forever. It's a foreboding, dark place (obviously), where corruption is rampant. And maybe worse: the game rules Clyde's gotten so good at bending to his will? They don't seem to apply.

an interesting take on medieval folk lore and Shakespeare
Revisado: 01-07-25
The characters are well fleshed out, I appreciated the references to Shakespeare's Midsummer. Definitely had moments of laughter. If you enjoy medieval folklore, you'll enjoy this book. It's definitely a side quest step away from the main story, or maybe it's not?

Historia
So, remember that whole 'send Montana to the capital—he's ready for prime time' plan? Yeah. That might've been a little bit hasty. Our hirsute hero really stepped in it. Like, is on the verge of losing his dukedom and everything he's worked for stepped in it. The only way out? A little-known technicality that stops Senate proceedings and sends Montana off on what's most likely an insurmountable quest. One where odds are good that he'll either die without a respawn or accidentally commit treason against the Empire.

Historia
Ashlock wakes in the courtyard of a demonic sect... as a tree. A tree that eats people. An odd start to a new life. Almost as strange as the humans flying through the skies on flaming swords and challenging the heavens. After all, this is a world where humans could chase the goal of immortality through the art of cultivation. But Ashlock is merely a sapling in a desolate courtyard, left alone with his thoughts and unable to speak to those passing him by. Unless he does something about it.

Historia
A world on the precipice of the apocalypse. A secret forged in the flames of war. A chance to start over. For John Sutton, only one of those three things matters. Retired from a decade of brutal war, he wants nothing more than a quiet pastoral life while he does his best to stem the steady increase of his Doom Points before they hit 100, signaling the start of the end. He’s been given a small farm on the outskirts of the empire as thanks for his service, but no matter how far he travels, it's impossible to escape the war's devastating effects on the world.

Historia
Clyde Hatchett has known he's had a corpse-king inside him, slowly trying to take over his body and raise an army of undead for a while now. And while that may seem like a rather, um, urgent matter to attend to, it's only now, after being forced out of Glaton by his best friends and then having to rescue someone's sister from a bad marriage, that he's actually in a place to deal with it. And he better deal with it quickly, since his entire left hand is starting to look like it belongs to the Crypt-Keeper.

Historia
Jim and his literal shoulder demon have survived, so far, by the skin of their teeth. After finding a long-abandoned starter village, Jim has begun the process of rebuilding his town. Unfortunately for our favorite adventurer, the threats he now faces are far more complicated than mere monsters. The poor Noob has to deal with angry townsfolk, trade negotiations, and a talking badger. With goblins and bandits also sniffing around, will Noobtown - I mean Windfall - survive?

Perfect Ending to the Perfect Run
Revisado: 10-15-24
The truly beautiful style of this author/narrator duo is how they create a feeling of precognitive recognition while guiding the listener through unforseen twists and turns. It's also very funny.
The narrator was amazing. Top notch performance, comedic timing on point again and again and again. That takes real skill.
The ending feels freeing, and doesn't give that let down feeling that some outstanding series sometimes do. Truly Art.

The author has great jokes and the narrator has the timing to hit them. Get it. The timing. Good tension, good character building, and multiple layers to the jokes. I'm very excited for the next book in the series. This is going on my surprise hidden gem category.

Great series start
Revisado: 09-02-24
The pacing is good, it's light hearted, there's foreshadowing, you listener gets the "uh-oh's" in the right places. If the author continues with this quality, pacing, and plot, it's a series worth listening through. I liked the characters, I liked the lack of forced romance, with the possibilities being in front of the MC and the MC being able to have actual relationships with the other characters.
