Needs new narrators
Revisado: 06-10-23
One of the female narrator's has a pacing issue and it was hard to stay in the story. The male narrator mispronounced words. Story was ok.

Good middle grade sci-fi/fantasy
Revisado: 02-19-23
It's hard to follow-up with such a great debut! The sequel is still really good. More building up of characters, some surprises, and more sci-fi elements. Great for middle grade/young YA.

Historia
Alma Katsu calls My Heart Is a Chainsaw “a homage to slasher films that also manages to defy and transcend genre.” On the surface is a story of murder in small-town America. But beneath is its beating heart: a biting critique of American colonialism, Indigenous displacement, and gentrification, and a heartbreaking portrait of a broken young girl who uses horror movies to cope with the horror of her own life.

Horror fans only
Revisado: 02-19-23
The story itself is okay. The best part is the teenage narrator's essays about the horror genre. She uses the horror genre to deal with her personal issues. It's captivating enough to listen to all the way through. Good narrator, and the sequel sounds like it has promise.

Historia
“I’m sorry but the answer’s no.” Reluctant author, Anthony Horowitz, has had enough. He tells ex-detective Daniel Hawthorne that after three books he’s splitting and their deal is over. The truth is that Anthony has other things on his mind. His new play, a thriller called Mindgame, is about to open at the Vaudeville Theater in London’s West End. Not surprisingly, Hawthorne declines a ticket to the opening night. The play is panned by the critics. In particular, Sunday Times critic Margaret Throsby gives it a savage review, focusing particularly on the writing.
