Vera Wong is a lonely little old lady—ah, lady of a certain age—who lives above her forgotten tea shop in the middle of San Francisco’s Chinatown. Despite living alone, Vera is not needy, oh no. She likes nothing more than sipping on a good cup of Wulong and doing some healthy detective work on the Internet about what her Gen-Z son is up to. Then one morning, Vera trudges downstairs to find a curious thing—a dead man in the middle of her tea shop.

Historia
I've had to move out of the city and into the house I inherited here, in the idyllic fishing village of Porthcove, but only for as long as it takes to sell it. You see, I need the money, so I've started seeing some of the locals, you know, as patients, but I tell you, there's something really disturbing about charming neighbors sharing chilling secrets. And it isn't just that. It's the other things. Strange, inexplicable things. It started with odd smells, creepy sounds, and then the intruders...oh God, the intruders.

This Narrator is PERFECTION!
Revisado: 06-09-23
The story is an excellent psychological mystery. Unexpected, and sometimes spooky and suspenseful.
The reason the overall rating did not receive a 5-star is because of the author’s MASSIVE love affair with the “F” word. Holy cow!
This narrator is perfection! He’s actually the best I’ve ever heard, and I’ll be searching for more books he has narrated.

Loving the new series already
Revisado: 04-02-23
Willow Rose is one of my favorite authors. This story does not disappoint! Ready for book 2.
Narrator: very mediocre; hope they assign a better narrator for the rest of the series.

yes Yes YESSSS!
Revisado: 12-10-22
It’s difficult to grasp that this is the author’s first novel. Wow, starting off with a bang!
This book is well-written, suspenseful, and difficult to put down. I’ve read so many thrillers and mysteries that it’s difficult to fool me; I usually figure it out way before I wish I would. I want to be enthralled to the end. This book accomplished this! YESSSS!
Now… what else has Mr.Armitage got up his sleeve? Bring it on!

Historia
Miracle Springs is a place of healing. Strangers flock there hoping that the natural hot springs, five-star cuisine, and renowned spa can cure their ills. And, if none of that works, they often find their way to Miracle Books, where, over a fresh-baked scone from the Gingerbread House bakery, they exchange their stories with owner Nora Pennington in return for a carefully chosen book. That's Nora's special talent: prescribing the perfect novel to ease a person's deepest pain and lighten their heaviest burden.

Better than I anticipated
Revisado: 03-03-22
I love mysteries, thrillers, and who-dun-its; but I normally gravitate to the weighty Stephen King, Koontz, and Coben. But, I’d read so many of these heavy hitters, that I needed to take a break from them for a while.
As I perused the Audible list for my next book, I came across this title. It sparked my interest because I love to cook and I love mysteries. This title covers both of those hobbies.
I’m glad I bought it, I believe it’s worth every penny. It was well written, had good character development, and the ending was not obvious early on. Additionally, the narrator did a good job. It’s always such a pity when you find a good book but the narration stinks. This title’s narration, however, does not suffer from such a fate. I enjoyed it so much, I popped the sequels right into my cart.

Historia
Michael and Megan Fitzgerald are siblings who share a terrifying past. Both adopted, and now grown — Michael is a long-haul truck driver, Megan a college student majoring in psychology — they trust each other before anyone else. They've had to. Their parents are public intellectuals, an Ivy League clinical psychologist and a renowned psychiatrist, and they brought up their adopted children in a rarefied, experimental environment. It sheltered them from the world's harsh realities, but it also forced secrets upon them, secrets they keep at all costs.

I love psychological thrillers, and this one is no exception. If it bears the name of James Patterson you know you’re in good hands.
Excellent narrator! I’ll be looking for more of his work.
