Since she was born, Kyr has trained for the day she can avenge the murder of planet Earth. Raised in the bowels of Gaea Station alongside the last scraps of humanity, she readies herself to face the Wisdom, the powerful, reality-shaping weapon that gave the majoda their victory over humanity. They are what’s left. They are what must survive. Kyr is one of the best warriors of her generation, the sword of a dead planet. When Command assigns her brother to certain death and relegates her to Nursery to bear sons, she knows she must take humanity's revenge into her own hands.

Exciting and thought provoking
Revisado: 08-06-24
Complicated characters in difficult situations. Believable science fiction with real relationships. I will listen to this audiobook a few times to catch everything it has to offer.

Historia
1938: She was one of the six sparkling Mitford sisters, known for her stinging quips, stylish dress, and bright green eyes. But Nancy Mitford’s seemingly dazzling life was really one of turmoil: with a perpetually unfaithful and broke husband, two Nazi sympathizer sisters, and her hopes of motherhood dashed forever. With war imminent, Nancy finds respite by taking a job at the Heywood Hill Bookshop in Mayfair, hoping to make ends meet, and discovers a new life.

Boring
Revisado: 10-08-23
Of interest is the correlation between the 1930’s rise of Hitler and the current rise of authoritarianism and fascism. However, the historical character keeps repeating her mistakes and I have little tolerance for characters who don’t grow and change. The modern character is boring, her love interest is eye-rolling
-ly boring and although it may turn around, it has so far been a waste of my time.

Historia
In 1871, five young girls were sent by the Japanese government to the United States. Their mission: learn Western ways and return to help nurture a new generation of enlightened men to lead Japan. Raised in traditional samurai households during the turmoil of civil war, three of these unusual ambassadors - Sutematsu Yamakawa, Shige Nagai, and Ume Tsuda - grew up as typical American schoolgirls. Upon their arrival in San Francisco, they became celebrities.

Interesting story that could have been better written
Revisado: 06-28-23
Background historical info is delivered in a way that takes me out of the story. It sounds like a reading of a college capstone rather than a more artfully crafted narrative.
