Historia
During André Leon Talley’s first magazine job, alongside Andy Warhol at Interview, a fateful meeting with Karl Lagerfeld began a decades-long friendship with the enigmatic, often caustic designer. Propelled into the upper echelons by his knowledge and adoration of fashion, André moved to Paris as bureau chief of John Fairchild’s Women’s Wear Daily, befriending fashion's most important designers (Halston, Yves Saint Laurent, Oscar de la Renta). But as André made friends, he also made enemies.

Me. Talley tells HIS story
Revisado: 01-20-22
While listening to the Introduction, it became clear why there was so much criticism of this book and its narration. Mr. Talley is unapologetically black and told his story through the lens of a Black man. One comment mentioned his faux British accent, which is actually a southern Black accent. My admiration of Mr. Talley and this memoir are that he told his story and narrated too.

Enthralling account of a miserable rich family. The account of Fred Jr. makes me want to fight so everyone gets the chance to express and live their life the way they want to do so even more. Saddest note is that we have to live with the consequences of their madness. Wow I can't believe they sold the one thing their father cherished.

I'm not sure this book should be call "A Warning". More likely "A Confirmation". Really didn't appreciate being preached to on the lack of civility of not wanting that man out under any circumstances. Obviously you and the fellow aids can't control him

How did Fidel Castro fool the CIA for a generation? Why did Neville Chamberlain think he could trust Adolf Hitler? Why are campus sexual assaults on the rise? Do television sitcoms teach us something about the way we relate to each other that isn't true? While tackling these questions, Malcolm Gladwell was not solely writing a book for the page. He was also producing for the ear. In the audiobook version of Talking to Strangers, you’ll hear the voices of people he interviewed - scientists, criminologists, military psychologists.

I struggle not to weep after listening to this book. So basically we train cops to find the worse in people and resource them wity military style weapons to police people who are not like them. What can go wrong? Gladwell thank you.

Historia
Many of us have let our minds become conditioned to thinking we've reached our limits; we've made too many mistakes; we'll never do anything great. The good news is that people don't determine our destiny - God does. And he has already taken into account every detail of our lives and factored them all into his plan. In his new book, Next Level Thinking, Joel Osteen teaches us that we weren't created to go through life weighed down by the past. God has destined us to rise higher - to the next level.

Russia expert Luke Harding lays out the most in-depth look to date at the Trump campaign's dealings with Russia. Beginning with a meeting with Christopher Steele, the man behind the shattering dossier that first brought the allegations to light, Harding probes the histories of key Russian and American players with striking clarity and insight. Harding exposes the disquieting details of the Trump-Russia story - a saga so huge it involves international espionage, offshore banks, sketchy real estate deals, mobsters, money laundering, disappeared dissidents, and more.

Historia
Best-selling author, former White House speechwriter, and Atlantic columnist and media commentator David Frum explains why President Trump has undermined our most important institutions in ways even the most critical media has missed, in this thoughtful and hard-hitting book that is a warning for democracy and America's future. Quietly, steadily, Trump and his administration are damaging the tenets and accepted practices of American democracy, perhaps irrevocably.

Sobering expose of the current Presidency
Revisado: 01-26-18
What did you love best about Trumpocracy?
Well written and verifiable facts. Not as fun as Fire and Fury, but is a good assessment of what is going on and the effects that will be us for a long time.
If you could give Trumpocracy a new subtitle, what would it be?
We are screwed.
Any additional comments?
Very well written, but am tired of hearing why a bunch of people are upset and voted for a guy who is ill-suited to be on the job. Basically, it is because they actually have to go through what many in this country have lived with forever. Then even more insulting is what will happen if they are not dominant again though demographically that is not going to happen.
However, if you want a fact-based account of our current Presidency and our country, this book is a must-read.

With extraordinary access to the West Wing, Michael Wolff reveals what happened behind-the-scenes in the first nine months of the most controversial presidency of our time in Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House. Since Donald Trump was sworn in as the 45th President of the United States, the country—and the world—has witnessed a stormy, outrageous, and absolutely mesmerizing presidential term that reflects the volatility and fierceness of the man elected Commander-in-Chief.

Trying to finish, but must give first impressions
Revisado: 04-10-17
If you could sum up An Extraordinary Union in three words, what would they be?
When I the plot, I was so excited. I admit that I am a mystery/detective genre fan, not romance. I keep thinking, this would be so great if they didn't keep talking about their feelings. If it were a true detective/mystery I would be thrilled.
Would you be willing to try another book from Alyssa Cole? Why or why not?
I am going to finish this tedious romance, but I doubt it because I can't sit through the tedium of will their love last.
Which character – as performed by Karen Chilton – was your favorite?
It was good
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I was intrigued with the history of the spying in the Civil War era.
