Historia
Lina Meisel, a retired librarian in Florida, is reading the newspaper one morning when she freezes. Her eyes lock on a photograph of a book she hasn’t seen in 65 years - a book she recognizes as The Book of Lost Names. The accompanying article discusses the looting of libraries by the Nazis across Europe during World War II - an experience Lina remembers well - and the search to reunite people with the texts stolen from them so long ago. The book in the photograph is one of the most fascinating cases.

Entertaining
Revisado: 10-26-22
This isn't the first time that I started a new book and 10 minutes in wondered if I was going to be able to put up with the narrator through the end. The story starts with the character in her '80s, and the narrator has developed very different voices for each character. this one in particular is hard to listen to, especially when it's your first introduction to the story and the narrator. I got over it, I kept going. As others have said, the writing at times seemed juvenile. I caught myself rolling my eyes at some of the dialogue and scene setups. The main character's mother was completely insufferable and I remember hoping on numerous occasions that there wasn't anybody that horrible in real life.
With that said, I did make it to the end. I did enjoy the overall story and I was rooting for the characters. I just wish this had been free a free offering instead of using a credit on it

Meh, but Excellent Narrator
Revisado: 08-22-21
It's been a long time since I've read a Stephen King book but I he's always been one of my favorites. This wasn't it all what I was expecting. It really is just a story about a boy with an ability. I expected more suspense and drama. It was a good story, just not what I was expecting. Like others have said, that last chapter was totally unnecessary. It was like doing a dissertation about cherry pie only to spend the last paragraph talking about the history of pork chops. Very disconnected, very pointless.
The narrator was amazing! his voices and inflections have it alot of personality. I'll be looking for more from him.

I didn't expect that!
Revisado: 07-18-21
I forgot I had this in my library so I didn't even remember what the story was about. But I needed something to listen to as I cleaned house. The narrator was excellent! I really liked her emotion and inflection. I'd like to listen to more by her. The story was interesting and kept me engaged. I never would have predicted the ending. it's not a long story, so go ahead and give it a go. You'll be glad you did.

Historia
As the old sailor's adage goes, a woman on board invites bad luck, a superstation that turned out to be true for the enemies of notorious pirates Anne Bonny and Mary Read. As quick to draw their cutlasses as they were to fall in love, Anne and Mary sailed the Caribbean leaving a trail of looted treasure, outfoxed law enforcement, and treacherous ex-lovers (suitably dealt with) in their wake. This series explores themes of equality, freedom, love and survival.

Excellent!!

Like other comments, the performances were perfection. At times it seemed like I had a Soap Opera playing on the TV in another room - the sound effects, dramatic acting and overall drama was very enjoyable.

Just stick with it...
Revisado: 06-03-21
I was about 30 minutes into this book when I thought I'd quit. It seemed a little cheesy, I felt like I could see where it was going, just an obsessed fan getting increasingly hostile. But I came back to the reviews and started reading what everyone else was saying about it and decided to keep going. It wasn't long after I got back into it that it got very interesting. I'm glad I stayed with it, because I wasn't expecting the turns that it took. I do recommend this story. I was able to listen to it in one day, So it was nice to not get totally consumed in a longer story that has me feeling every spare moment with audible.

Once you get past the narrator..
Revisado: 03-17-21
In the beginning, I struggled to overlook the lazy, bored tone of the narrator. I was trying to get into the book but I was so distracted by her tone that I had trouble concentrating on the story. She really sounded like she couldn't be bothered. There were several times I almost quit. But as the story started getting more interesting and new characters with dialogue showed up, I got used to her tone and it didn't bother me anymore. The story was actually great and I found that I needed to listen to it at every possible opportunity. Even if it only took me 7 minutes to get home from work, I still had it on.
