Historia
Sickles at Gettysburg by licensed battlefield guide James Hessler, is the most deeply-researched, full-length biography to appear on this remarkable American icon. No individual who fought at Gettysburg was more controversial, both personally and professionally, than Major General Daniel E. Sickles. By 1863, Sickles was notorious as a disgraced former Congressman who murdered his wife’s lover on the streets of Washington and used America’s first temporary insanity defense to escape justice.

in entertaining take on the Battle of Gettysburg
Revisado: 10-07-22
Written for true Gettysburg buffs. Very few characters from the 19th century where as colorful as Dan Sickles. This book takes a rather objective look at his life prior and after the July 2nd battle at Gettysburg, which Dan Sickles played a major role in. The author really holds back from leveling and opinion, one way or another on his life and the role he played at the battle, but shares the insights from many other authors and their opinions. Can the good someone does in there life outweigh the bad? Dan Sickles is a great case study, if that question is an interest you have. It is more a biography than a case study on just the second day of the Battle of Gettysburg.

Great overview of the first 100 years
Revisado: 07-27-22
Sean is a really gifted writer, and this is a well written historical piece on the NHL. it is a bit more history than fascinating rare gems about the NHL. But with those strange but true facts at the end of each chapter. there is stuff in this book that even a fan of 30 years did not know.

effective Short history
Revisado: 03-11-22
overall to really good short history of the miracle at Dunkirk, pretty good pace and Flow. Goes into a great deal of depth especially with the main characters of the operation. would have liked for them to spend a bit more time on the effects of the evacuation. I would have also like to learn more of how the Nazis absolutely ignored it. rather than knocking out the BEF. WELL WRITTEN INSPIRING!

well researched, very honest and detailed perspect
Revisado: 02-10-22
This is great follow-up to his first book on Donald Trump. Honest and unflinching. Very entertaining, and objective. You get the sense that Jonathan is trying to be as objective as possible. It is only within the last few paragraphs of the book that he allows history to pass judgment on former president Donald Trump.

Lee delivering blows to the Union army, McClellan’s plan fell through at the gates of Richmond.

Historia
The transition from President Donald J. Trump to President Joseph R. Biden Jr. stands as one of the most dangerous periods in American history. But as number one internationally best-selling author Bob Woodward and acclaimed reporter Robert Costa reveal for the first time, it was far more than just a domestic political crisis. Woodward and Costa interviewed more than 200 people at the center of the turmoil, resulting in more than 6,000 pages of transcripts - and a spellbinding and definitive portrait of a nation on the brink.

Pearl Jam from the fans perspective
Revisado: 08-29-21
A pretty good book on a successful band while also covering the events that surrounded it. About 50% of the book focus on the first 4 years of the band, when they were on top of their game. The author admits to being a major fan, but is objective throughout the book. He does call the band out a few times for their work post 1998. This book does take a few turns off the beaten path. Covering topics like the Seattle WTO protest, 911, and the war on terror. Overall, an enjoyable read for any Pearl Jam fan.

Brian Burke is one of the biggest hockey personalities - no, personalities full-stop - in the hockey media landscape. His brashness makes him a magnet for attention, and he does nothing to shy away from it. Most famous for advocating "pugnacity, truculence, testosterone, and belligerence" during his tenure at the helm of the Maple Leafs, Burke has lived and breathed hockey his whole life.
