When a wealthy and gorgeous woman asks PI Frank Orpheus to find her missing identity, he just can't say no - even if the case leads him into a criminal underworld more horrific than anything he ever imagined. Private detective Frank Orpheus, searching for a mysterious woman’s missing identity, finds himself entangled in a web of underworld characters far nastier than any he’s ever met.

Not so Menacing
Revisado: 07-25-22
"Damn near" the very definition of hard-boiled, filled with heavy handed symbolism from Greek Mythology, with imagery and metaphors to make even Edward Bulwer-Lytton blush.
Narrator's voice is well-selected, makes you want to chainsmoke a carton of cigarettes while standing on a dimly lit streetcorner.

THE MACHINE STOPS
Revisado: 08-18-21
The story is told in the best tradition of Film Noir, though the setting is sometime in the post-apocalyptic future. Our hardboiled hero, living in a digital playground for the rich and immortal, is investigating an impossibility: one of the founders has actually died, permanently. Being threatened on multiple sides to stop, the investigation leads him back and forth into the "meat space" of the "real' world until he discovers the truth, and the truth of that truth.
Narration Note: The versatility of voices really helped with understanding the book through all the quick changes in scenery and reality. As character descriptions changed between the analog and digital worlds the voices maintained that continuity of character.
While the title of this book makes perfect sense AFTER having read it, I think it hampers itself from drawing in first time readers.
