I'm used to post societal collapse books to lean conservative, and it usually doesn't distract me even though I don't always agree. This book is different-lots of very specific political grudge points from the far right. For example, he brings up Colin Kaepernick as a turning point in our ability to coexist. That's one of many examples. it's distracting to the point that it's difficult to enjoy the story.

If you like the parts of a post apocalyptic novel where people figure out food, shelter, and social norms, this will work for you. If you want the tense social decay and uncertainty aspect of the genre, you will find it a little slow. This one is definitely a novel for the good guys, which was sort of a nice break.
