Resisting an irresistible force wears you down and turns you out. I know - I've been doing it for years. I may not have a musical gift of my own, but I've got a nose for talent and an eye for the extraordinary. And Marlon James - Grip to his fans - is nothing short of extraordinary. Years ago, we strung together a few magical nights, but I keep those memories in a locked drawer and I've thrown away the key. All that's left is friendship and work. I manage his career, but I can't seem to manage my heart.

I enjoyed both narrators in this audiobook. I could feel the emotion brought to life for the characters through the narrators. The highs and the lows were well performed & I will recommend this book/series to others.

The Wicked Aftermath: Tank Wicked
By Melissa Foster
---> ETA audio review: I also read this book with the Audible narration companion in order to continue the book while driving or at the grocery store and the narrators were great, in my opinion. I loved the gravel-like timbre of Tank’s voice in the narration. Leah’s little southern twang was cute, too. I think the narrators did a great job of bringing this story to life in audio!
When I finished the last page of Tank & Leah’s story, I was giddy like a school girl! 😻 I absolutely loved the way Melissa Foster ended this book. This book consumed me with all the pain, sorrow, (survivor’s) guilt, longing, love, and adoration. Basically, it gave me all of the feels!
A quick note: I read book 5, His Wicked Ways, which is Blaine Wicked’s story. I had seen Foster’s IG promoting this book heavily before I started the series and all are considered stand alone books, however there is a natural progression amongst the characters/family beginning in book 1, so while reading His Wicked Ways first got me to go back and read the series from the beginning, IF YOU HAVE NOT STARTED THIS SERIES, I would recommend you start from the beginning 📘, especially if you enjoy a good series where you see prior characters continuing to develop through a smaller plot line as the story focuses on new characters in each book.
In The Wicked Aftermath, the two main characters are Tank Wicked and Leah Yates. Leah is a waitress at Tank’s family’s bar, The Salty Hog. In the first book of the series, A Little Bit Wicked, the reader feels an underlying current between Tank and Leah, when they are both at the Salty Hog at the same time. Tank is interested in Leah, thinks she is beautiful; meanwhile, Leah avoids Tank at all costs because she can sense turmoil and guilt radiating off of him each time they make eye contact. She is not certain of the explanation for these feelings she picks up from Tank, so it naturally scares her. 👀 Until one night, a tragic accident happens involving Leah, her brother, River, and River’s two little girls, Junie and Rosie. 💔 Tank arrives on scene and helps to pull survivors from the accident Leah and family are involved in, which ultimately leaves someone unable to be saved. Leah is consumed with survivor’s guilt and all of the feelings associated with a traumatic event such as this one. Throughout the following months, Tank refuses to be anywhere but available to Leah and her family, understanding her grief, based on a significant loss he’s experienced in his own family in the past. He wants to help her learn how to live through the traumatic loss while also giving honor to the lost while carrying those cherished memories with her forever. This is just a brief summary of the plot in my words, but there is so much more going on in the book and it definitely deserves the read. Unpack the grief and loss, sit with those feelings as you are going through the book, and find yourself falling in love with these characters.
The relationships that absolutely consumed my heart and soul in this book was Tank’s relationship with Junie and Rosie. 💕These two little girls are the absolute CUTEST and Melissa Foster captured their personalities flawlessly – you can’t read this book and NOT love them! Papa Tank adores these girls as if they are his own, and the way Junie takes to him, wanting to become a tattoo artist like him in the future – major swoon. The way he describes all of his tattoos to the girls is by explaining that they are like stories, each one having a significant meaning to its owner – in response, both girls begin referring to tattoos as “stories” and it becomes a common conversation topic within the book. The way Tank cares for these girls, and Leah, it makes all of the trauma and heartbreak from the beginning of the book so worth it.
Having read all five of the books currently published for the Wicked family, the first book was my least favorite and I was a little uncertain about continuing the series after reading it, but I knew I enjoyed Blaine’s book (book 5), and I am so glad I continued with Tank and Leah’s story. Truly, each story gets better with each book. You can’t miss this series – do yourself a favor and get it downloaded to your Kindle now!
Melissa Foster’s style of writing is easy to read and she creates characters who are so interesting, you can’t help but keep turning the pages, even when it’s time to go to bed for the evening. 😊 I will mention, many of the books I am used to reading are written in the first person POV with multiple POVs. While Melissa Foster writes the Wicked series with two different POVs, it is written from the third person perspective, so I feel it is worth mentioning in the review, in case this is something you are not used to reading. While I was not used to reading from this POV, it did not take long for me to get adjusted to the difference in style.

Fallen Raven Books 1 & 2
By Diana A. Hicks
Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5)
The Fallen Raven duet is so good, and the audio companion brought the characters to life in the best way. As I was listening + reading, I was instantly captivated by Aurora and Enzo’s connection to each other. Throughout book one, when the characters are actually in high school, I got very strong Cruel Intentions crossed with Romeo & Juliet vibes, so naturally I was all in, waiting with bated breath to see how bad Enzo and his crew would haze Aurora while simultaneously becoming infatuated with Enzo’s internal thoughts about her. Narrators Dane Anderson and Rose Dioro brought these characters to life with perfect intonation especially when it came to every emotion they experienced via the author’s writing.
Aurora is new to town, NYC, having moved from Las Vegas before the school year begins. Las Vegas is the only place she’s called home and is torn between missing it and being thankful for being given a new slate to start over with her parents in a new city. What she is concerned with, though, is how her father (who is basically a con artist) managed to find good favor with the Italian mafia in NYC to move them cross country and put them up in a swanky apartment & enroll her in the best academy in the city. Often times throughout the book, Aurora ponders what her father is up to and worries about her safety as well as her mother’s, and she’s not wrong to be worried, but it’s not exactly what you would immediately think as a reader. I appreciated the unpredictable twist the author gave us.
I read + listened to both books in the duet back-to-back. I don’t even remember how much sleep I got in between each book because book one leaves you on such a cliffhanger that you don’t want to believe what’s happened, prompting you to immediately jump in to book two!
When I made it to book two, I knew there would be a jump in time based on how book one ended, and I also knew I was guaranteed a happy ending. The second book has many chapters that are based in the past, and these chapters are intermingled with the present time chapters throughout the book. These chapters focusing on the past were necessary to explain the development of the characters through a decade. I understand it was necessary to do this and each one of these chapters honing in on the past gave new details of significant events that happened prior to “now” but I found myself getting antsy a few times in these chapters from the past filling in the gaps. I wish the past chapters could have been a little bit shorter because I was more concerned with what is happening now and where the characters would progress and it made me a little restless. I didn’t skip anything; I’m not that kind of reader, plus I have major FOMO so I physically could not make myself skip to the current chapters.
As adults who find their way back to each other, Aurora and Enzo are still crazy attracted to each other and despite Aurora’s hesitancy, and maybe a little bit from Enzo, they cannot deny their chemistry has not dissolve over ten years apart. There are several discoveries made throughout book two that I did not predict, and I cannot express enough in any review how much this means to me. I do not like reading books that are highly predictable! With that said, when I was finally in what I’ll call the meat-and-potatoes of the “now” in book two, I was living for Aurora and Enzo reconciling and cheering them on as they worked together with a common goal to save someone very important to them. Subsequently, said important character was incredibly sweet the way he took to Enzo and I was really hoping we’d get the treat of that happening versus harboring bad feelings and being a jerk.
If you enjoy a duet romance with heavy mafia themes, heartbreak and emotion, plus some deceit and manipulation, this is the book duet for you. The narration was very enjoyable and I felt like I was with these characters as I listened along with reading the KU version of the books.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Captures your attention from beginning to end. 👏🏼
Revisado: 03-19-24
"Brutal Arrangement" provided me with an engrossing, emotional, and intense listening experience that left me at the edge of my seat. This audiobook is a toxic love story between a billionaire alpha male, his brother's girl, and the tumultuous world they find themselves in.
The narration by Elena Wolfe, Robert Hatchet, and J.F. Harding, with a special guest appearance from Sarah Pederson, was nothing short of phenomenal. Each brought their unique voice and interpretation to the characters, giving them depth and authenticity. I could feel the raw emotions of love, betrayal, and revenge seeping through their performances, which made the characters come alive in my mind.
The plot was a twisted journey of a billionaire alpha male caught in a toxic relationship with his brother's girl, who also happens to be a talented musical artist. The mix of love, lust, revenge, and music was a captivating concoction that kept me hooked throughout the entirety of the audiobook.
Wolfe's smooth, seductive voice was perfectly suited for the female lead, giving her character a nuanced complexity. Hatchet and Harding, on the other hand, masterfully portrayed the billionaire and his brother, their gritty voices capturing the torment and passion of their characters. Pederson's guest appearance added a touch of intrigue, providing a refreshing shift in the narrative.
Overall, "Brutal Arrangement" was a thrilling, heart-wrenching listen that kept me invested from start to finish. The combination of a gripping plot, complex characters, and brilliant narration made it an audiobook I would highly recommend to any fan of intense, emotionally charged romance.

Princes of Chaos: Royals of Forsyth University (Book 7)
By Angel Lawson & Samantha Rue
I pre-ordered this book, Princes of Chaos, as soon as it was up for pre-order on Amazon. I am heavily (emotionally) invested in the Royals of Forsyth University series by Angel & Sam! I stumbled upon the Lords of Pain (Book 1 of the series) in February 2023. I have been absolutely HOOKED since that day and read all the Lords and Dukes books in a week. To say I was obsessed is a major understatement! When I made it to Dukes of Peril, I began hoping for a continuation of this series and these ladies did NOT disappoint. If you’ve read the Lords’ & Dukes’ stories, STOP NOW and start PoC!! For those who are completely new to the series, make sure you start at the beginning!
The series spotlights each part of the “royals” at Forsyth University: Lords, Dukes, Princes, Barons, and Counts. Princes of Chaos (PoC) introduces newer main characters to the series as the Princes are searching for their new Princess. You learn about the Princes – their way of life, current and past characters, etc – in the Lords’ & Dukes’ books, but you don’t even begin to learn the HALF OF IT until you are diving in to PoC.
As I dug in and the storyline unfolded, as the characters continued to develop, you pick up quickly that nearly every character in the book is deeply broken with an unspoken desire to be put back together. I found the Princes – Pace, Wicker, and Lex – to be fiercely loyal, dutiful sons, and emotionally damaged by their own pasts. Leading lady Verity is the epitome of loyal, despite the Princes believing she is a traitor to her family, the Dukes. I believe Verity has what the Princes need to be pieced back together, emotionally and physically, to find peace and love – eventually.
I wish that we had learned more about the Baron King in PoC – it’s a tangled web of someone being dead and an unknown person wearing the mask as the King. This would answer more questions about the Baron lineage and proper heir for the throne. However, I know from reading FU Books 1 – 6 that Angel & Sam are not going to disappoint us, and this will all end up explained, we must wait – patiently, which is hard to be while awaiting Princes of Ash (PoA)!! I also had questions about a couple of cameos in PoC, and was fearful I missed something in prior books about these characters. I was glad to see in the Acknowledgements that I could learn more about these characters who cameoed in another book/series – Devil May Care. You can find me reading this until PoA is available!
All in all, this book ticks all the boxes for someone looking for a reverse harem bully romance that is anything but conventional. Angel & Sam left me with a book hangover and a cliffhanger to keep me anxious until PoA drops! Their brilliant writing and character development continues to shine in PoC.

Book review below - after audio review:
- audio narrators were great! They did a great job of voicing each character and carrying out the plot of the book. Sometimes I listen to audiobooks and the female narrator’s attempt of sounding like a male character is really hard to listen to, but these two narrators were pleasant and made it very easy to listen to the entire book in one day. Thank you for your creative work!
—————————————-
I struggled to determine how many stars I’d give this book in review. After an internal debate, I rated it 5/5 ⭐️for these reasons:
• I was hooked from the get-go. Clearly, because I got through the book in one day. I vowed halfway through I was NOT going to bed until I finished this story to figure out what was actually going on.
• I hated the antagonist so much, yet her “autobiography” made me feel less of a failure as a mom and gave me a renewed sense of protective motherhood IRL. Truly, I’m just mind blown, even though it’s fiction.
• everything is so well-written, there’s nothing missing in the plot, although I really thought Crew was going to end up being the crazy child who created the majority of this terrible situation because his mother is so messed up. 🙊
• I’m left sitting here, reading GoodReads reviews of this book, trying to take a tally of who thinks the letter at the end is bogus and just more “author work” or who believes it was a real thing!! (Also, if it’s a real thing, why did coo-coo-ca-choo eat half the frickin’ letter like a goat 🐐 instead of questioning Jeremy - one of the only normally named characters in the book??? She must have chosen to avoid the truth in order to have her happy ending with Jeremy & Crew. I guess this madness actually does happen in real life. I’m a questioner people; this wouldn’t go under my radar!)
• I would (and already have) recommend this book to a friend. I recommend sheerly from the fact that I gotta know someone else’s perspective of how this ended!! Do you believe it? Do you not? WHY, to either question!!! 🤯
