Historia
This anthology of rare stories of crime and suspense brings together a selection of rare tales by masters of the Golden Age of Detective Fiction for the first time in book form, including a newly discovered Agatha Christie crime story that has not been seen since 1922. At a time when crime and thriller writing has once again overtaken the sales of general and literary fiction, Bodies from the Library unearths lost stories from the Golden Age, that period between the World Wars when detective fiction captured the public’s imagination.

How I End a Long Day
Revisado: 10-04-23
The draw of a good mystery novel is hard to ignore and why should I? I especially enjoyed the talents and imagination of Agatha Christie. I shall be reading more of the authors featured in this collection. I encourage others to read these pages from the past.

Historia
You finally get home after a long, stressful day of work, counting down the seconds until you finally get to hug your bed. But as soon as your head hits the pillow, you get left alone with a swirling storm of thoughts and worries. You realize that another long night is in front of you. An hour later, your mind is still racing, well aware of the passing time and the unlikelihood of waking up well-rested. It’s time to put an end to this, once and for all.

Boring not Soothing
Revisado: 06-06-23
Speaking slowly with long gaps every few words is not soothing it is irritating. Two of the “stories” were just sound effects. Very disappointing.

Characters Make the Day
Revisado: 01-24-23
I really enjoyed getting to know the people in this story. While an interesting story I do not enjoy “unfinished moments.” The hint of resolution but not the fact. I still recommend this book and look forward to the next in this series.

Historia
Over twenty years ago, the heiress Patricia Lockwood was abducted during a robbery of her family's estate, then locked inside an isolated cabin for months. Patricia escaped, but so did her captors - and the items stolen from her family were never recovered. Until now. On the Upper West Side, a recluse is found murdered in his penthouse apartment, alongside two objects of note: a stolen Vermeer painting and a leather suitcase bearing the initials WHL3. For the first time in years, the authorities have a lead - with the suitcase and painting both pointing them toward one man.

I couldn’t turn this off once I started. The story was twisted and frighteningly believable. Good variety in the character presentations. Highly recommend.

Historia
Molly Gray is not like everyone else. She struggles with social skills and misreads the intentions of others. Her gran used to interpret the world for her, codifying it into simple rules that Molly could live by. Since Gran died a few months ago, twenty-five-year-old Molly has been navigating life’s complexities all by herself. No matter—she throws herself with gusto into her work as a hotel maid. Her unique character, along with her obsessive love of cleaning and proper etiquette, make her an ideal fit for the job.

There was too much sexual innuendo and talk about breasts that did not add to the story or help build a character study. It slowed the pace.

Uncreative waste of time

I really have enjoyed Patterson’s books in the past and depend on Audible as my eyesight has deteriorated but am so sorry I wasted my money on this book. The story was unimaginative and performances fake. I cannot recommend this one at all.

Historia
Psychiatrist Dr. Gwen Moore is an expert on killers. She’s spent a decade treating California’s most depraved predators and unlocking their motives - predators much like the notorious Bloody Heart serial killer, whose latest teenage victim escaped and then identified local high school teacher Randall Thompson as his captor. The case against Thompson as the Bloody Heart Killer is damning - and closed, as far as Gwen and the media are concerned. If not for one new development.
